We live about 45 miles N of Houston. We evacuated to Waco yesterday. We left expecting the worst- that we will return to an extremely damaged home or no home left at all. My parents and sister live in the Beaumont/Port Arthur area where the hurricane is expected to hit directly. They evacuated to NW LA, but my BIL who is a fireman had to stay behind and be on duty. I spoke with him this morning, and I could tell from hearing his voice that he is extremely nervous. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers. I promise to keep you updated as long as we have electricity.

Have a good weekend, everyone!

Hey Jennifer. Stay safe girlfriend.
Keeping all of your family in my thoughts :grouphug:

I heard from my sister this morning. My BIL was able to check on their house. It is pretty much OK. Lots of big pine trees down in their yard and a small tree on their roof, but nothing too major that they can tell at this time. Still no word on my parents' house or our house.

Thanks for the prayers! :grouphug:

Good news regarding your DS's house. I am glad to be just watching the fury of weather from my home. My thoughts and best wishes to you and your family.

My thoughts and prayers are with you Jen. Hope your house and those of family fare well.

We made it home last night. My heart was pounding as we approached the house. We feel truly blessed. Except for one oak tree that fell across our fence and into the neighbor's yard, our house is exactly like we left it. Still no word on my parent's house. We heard on the news that they might not have power until Nov. :worried:

Thanks for your good wishes and prayers. Please keep them coming. :)

So glad to hear there was no damage to your house. Keep us informed on your parents place.

My BIL was able to check on my parent's house, and the news is not so good for them. Several large pine trees fell on top of the house. The chimney is gone, so water was able to get into the house. They are hoping it doesn't rain anymore so the house doesn't totally flood. Their back porch, deck, and storage building are totally destroyed. As bad as it is, they know that it could have been a lot worse. At least they have a house that they will be able to return to and repair. Thanks again for your prayers! :)
