I mailed (from Ontario) a deposit for a condo rental 03/21 3 pm to Illinois. I sent it registered (but not expedited/express). As of tonight, the condo owner has not received the deposit. How many days should it take to mail something from Ontario to Illinois? I realize that I am probably panicking for nothing considering that the post office was closed two days for Easter, but still I should have simply couriered it to him. Then my condo rental would be confirmed by now and I wouldn't be panicking for nothing (I hope).

Believe it or not........

It could take up to two (2) weeks!

I am a regular in the exchanges and it's like playing craps! You never know what you will get!

Don't worry it will eventually make it there!

Scratch, Thanks for the info. Its just that I sent the condo owner a US $ order for the rental (20% deposit) and I would freak if it somehow went missing. I know I should have couriered it. I thought that if I at least registered the mail, then if the condo owner turned out to be shady (which I doubt), he could never tell me that it didn't arrive (since with registered mail, he will have to sign for it). I never thought it would still not be delivered by this weekend!!!!!!!!!!! :confused3
Hopefully he will get it early next week. I am so looking forward to this holiday. I just don't want any problems.

I've found mail to the US is hit & miss in terms of timing. Sometimes my stuff takes a week, most often it takes more like 3 weeks.

It has been my experience to NEVER use Canada Post when I want something sent and tracked in the US. I always used UPS or Fedex and never had any problems, even for regular documents.

I agree with using UPS! Registered mail actually takes LONGER! no idea why but it does.. I ship to the states all the time and it usually takes 10 business days but it can take up to 3 weeks. people do NOT like having to wait that long for their packages.

Hi -
Not exactly related to the OP's question but I was wondering if it's possible to buy US stamps at Canada Post outlets? We wanted to send some postcards back to Canada while we are at WDW.
Thanks.

no you can only buy Canada stamps at our PO's... I would suggest getting some stamps at a local store in the states.

This is a funny thing! I mailed a money order to the DVC member we are renting from in Maryland, and he received it in three days. I mailed a letter to a business here in Ptbo and it took 9 days to get there and they are three blocks from my house :rotfl2: GO FIGURE!!!!

Well I called Canada Post today and was assured that the registered mail is in Illinois now (where the Florida condo owner lives) and should be delivered in the next couple of days.

When I have to send the rest of the $$ for the condo rental , I will definately courier it. I can't believe its been two weeks and still the condo owner doesn't have the deposit!!!!

Thanks again for all your advice regarding this issue.

Thanks.

You can't get US stamps here but if you go to DTD to the Art of Disney? (store across from the Christmas Shop) you can have your postcards stamped.

Also, there is a postal outlet at MCO but you must have change for the stamp machines. They have a scale there so that you don't have to guess how much postage!

All the hotel gift shops should sell stamps too.

Don't forget that we lost 2 business days because of Good Friday and Easter Monday. Really messed things up sending stuff to the US from my ebay sales. I now cut and paste my response explaining the holidays and business days do not include Saturday. Anyways on a positive note I have already made 400.00 towards our trip to Disney in just two months just from stuff around my house. And still selling. :)
