First let me say I have a warped sense of humor so parents with small kids may not laugh but I thought it was hysterical.

I was at my sons middle school picking him up today (he usually takes the school bus) for an orthodontist appt. Some moms were out front waiting for the walkers to be dismissed. One mom was there waiting with a small boy (~4 yo) and a young man (about 20ish) pulls up in his car with one of those santa decorations, where out of the trunk hangs Santas feet, every seen one of those. It looks likes Santa is stuck in the trunk. Well the little boy starts to cry and the mom starts complaining loudly and whaling into the young man about how people ruin the joy of Christmas for little kids. So the young man who probably could have just ignored her, turn to the kid and said "you know what, I shot Rudolph and he's stuffed in the trunk too". Well now the kid is hysterical and me and some other folks are on the ground laughing.
Christmas really brings out the best in some folks.

Why in the world didn't that mom tell her little one that it was just a pretend Santa? :confused3

I love the part about Rudolph - of course if the mom hadn't gone ballistic in the first place, that part probably wouldn't have even been said.

I guess I would of said it was pretend as well and ignored the goofy decoration.

But geez why would anyone want to be mean like that to a 4 year old.

Guess I don't have the same warped sense of humor :confused3

I don't think he intentionally was trying to be mean. I think he was a 20 something getting grief over a car decoration that probably wasn't even his. I know my teens (my kids are 18 and 16 both drive the family car) can be smart alexes when they want to. I think his goal was to say make the women miserable, which he did.

I know, I felt a little guilty for laughing but it was funny.

I'm sorry, but my kid would have enjoyed seeing mommy kick the snot out of the little SOB. What a you know what... and what is wrong with you... you were laughing while a little kid cried?! And people said I was a jerk because I said I want to trip spoiled brats in heelies?

I guess I don't see the humor in a punk kid freaking out a small child :confused3

Ok, I must be worped too... I thought it was funny and I have a 4 year old little boy! If he would have seen it, he most likely would have thought it was funny, and if not, I would have told him that it was not real and ment to be funny.

I still see the mom as being the one who screwed up in this situation - her child was crying, and the best she could do was yell at a stranger, instead of reassuring her own child? She's a punk mom, in my book. Or she's a DOB, the female version of an SOB...

I agree 100%. Shame on that mom:headache: . I definately would have told my kid that it was pretend, not go ape nut and upset him further.

Well said. The mom is at fault here. It is her job to help her son deal with these things because he is going to encounter this type of thing out in the world. Instead she proved to her son that it was right to cry, that this horrible guy had Santa trapped, and the mom did nothing to help Santa... didn't even tell the cops! I think if I were watching, though, I would have had to say to the kid and the mom, "Don't worry, that is just a Santa decoration. It's not the real Santa," or something like that. The young driver went overboard with his Rudolph comment, and I would have thought of the child first and would have been annoyed with the driver. However, the mom sounds like a cartoon character, and the fact that she handled the situation the way she did is crazy. Poor little boy!

ETA: It sounds like the mom did not think of her son's feeling first, she thought, Oh great now you set my son off and I don't know how to fix this, so I am going to yell at you and teach you a lesson about not hurting kids. Her first priority should have been helping her son.

I agree this mom handled it poorly.

The only reason why I would have spoke to the man with the car is to ask him if he could mind opening his trunk to prove it wasn't real.

And that would have been a VERY last resort.

It would have been really simple for the mom to just explain that it wasn't "THE" Santa.

She could have easily said, "You know, Junior, how Mommy has that Santa decoration lit up in the front yard? And then we have another decoration in the house of Mr. and Mrs. Claus? You know they aren't the real Santa, right? And that's not really Santa's feet hanging out of his car!"

I'm sorry to those who are offended but that was hilarious!!!! I'm seriously LOL here!!! LOL

Friends of ours have that on their car and my kids laugh every time they see it. They think it's hilarious too.

That Mom didn't need to go off on the guy driving........it's a decoration and a joke it's not serious and she needs to take a chill pill. If I had been that Mom I would have been sure to tell my DS/DD that it was fake and nothing to worry about.

I'm still LOL over this one.......
