We do a crazy amount of family gatherings for the Holidays since both my husband and I have large families. So, in order to actually spend time with them rather than spend a lot of time in the car we are thinking of hosting at our house this year. Since I've never done this I need ideas for what to make.
Any family favorites you care to share with me? :)

Corn Casserole

1 -14oz can creamed corn
1- 14oz can of whole corn
1- 8oz container sour cream
1- 8oz package of corn muffin mix
1- stick of butter, melted
1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

Preheat oven to 350. Mix together 1st 5 ingredients. Pour into greased 9x13 inch pan. Bake 45 minutes until golden brown. Top with cheese. Bake 5-10 mins longer or until cheese is melted.

Can make a head of time and reheat.

A couple we like are:

Sauteed Apples in a crock pot. My family loves these. The recipe is on AllRecipes and they taste just like the ones at Cracker Barrel.

Another favorite is Buffalo Chicken Dip. Tastes just like Buffalo wings.

Spinach stuffed Mushrooms ---recipe is also on Allrecipes.com

Wontons with Sausage and Cheese Filling...makes a ton and is very yummy!

Bren's Mom - I'm kinda clueless on how to link to that particular recipe. But I just did a search on alllrecipes. Just go to allrecipes.com and in the search bar type in Sauteed Apples (with a capital S and capital A...not sure if that's why you can't find it.

I'll also retype it here for you:

1/4 cup water
4 Large Tart Apples like Granny Smith
2 teaspoons cornstarch
1/2 cup cold water
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

Peel and slice the apples. In large saucepan melt butter and add apples. Cook for about 7 minutes. Dissolve the cornstarch in the cold water and add to apples. Cook for a few more minutes then add the brown sugar and cinnamon. Cook through until everything blends.

You really can't mess this up. I usually wind up using twice as many apples and pretty much just wing it. If I want to save them to serve the next day, I don't cook them as long and then just reheat on low in a crockpot.

Thanks Heather!

I did find that recipe but didn't see anything about a crock pot so I thought it was the wrong one. :rotfl2:

It sounds yummy and I'm going to try it this year for breakfast the day after Thanksgiving! :goodvibes

This sounds so yummy and easy!
