Our music boosters are trying to raise $ for new band uniforms and are looking for some new ideas. Trivia nights re successful, but every group out there does one or more each year. I came across an idea on the Internet about a horse racing fundraiser. There are companies that sell taped races and there are a variety of ways to raise money with the races.

Anyone ever been on the organizing side of this event or gone as a participant?
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

our soccer team does Mouse Race fundraisers. You can make a lot of $ ~ I think the last time we did one we had about 300 people and made about 8K

As the PP noted, Mouse races tend to do well.

Yes, the mice ARE live. They run (well, sometimes 'amble' is the more accurate term) in specially-built racing boxes that have perforated plexiglass tops; the mice stay safely inside.

Our local Rotary Club has done this event in the past. It was fun. They sold tables for certain amount of money, had raffle prizes you could bid on with your winnings (fake money), and I know they made money selling food.

You could buy "horse names" for certain races and if your horse won the name was entered in the final race of the night. I know some of the "horses" were sold ahead of time to local businesses and individuals.
