OT: Elton John Coming to NL

Can't believe it - this is HUGE!! We've had some great concerts come to the island but no one this big. It's always the same story, big stars will go as far as Halifax but won't make the trip here. I can understand, its a pain to try to get your crew and gear here.

Anyone out there ever see him in concert? I know it will be fantastic! Now I just have to get tickets.

I saw him a few years back in Toronto. I got complimentary tickets from his people and was only 6 rows from the front. It was amazing. He is very talented and allows for people to come dance right in the front. It was an incredible experience.

6th Row - wow!! What was it like on the floor - is it crazy or is it reasonable? I'm attempting to get tickets and wondering if the floor that close is too crazy?

It wasn't bad at all. Most people were very mature and singing along. It was a classy group of people and it was really fun. I just wish I had my camera with me as I could have gotten amazing close ups of Elton....

We saw him in March when he came to Kitchener! It was fantastic! He played all by himself, no band, just him and a piano! And no opening act! It was like being in his livingroom! He did say that small towns need good entertainment too and more acts should follow his lead!
On a side note, we just saw Great Big Sea on Sat in TO for the 5th time! Love,Love them live! We just bought tickets yesterday for November! Our dream is to see them live in NL! HAve fun with Elton!

saginaw - glad to hear that you love GBS! I can remember seeing them play at the small pubs before they made it big. Great NL ambassodors.

The EJ show here will be the same as Kitchener - just him. I am so hoping to get tickets. I know it will be a fantastic show! By the way - which side of the stage was he on? Just curious in case I actually get through to by tickets I would like to be able to face him!!

If you are facing the stage, his back is to the left. Not to worry, he has huge screens. No seat is bad! He did stop and sign stuff for the floor people. In fact he seemed to take alot of time doing that, which surprised us as he did it right in the middle of the show! We are trying to remember exactly but he played for over 2 hours without an intermission. We were blown away! I cried for the first few songs, I was so thrilled! I'm jealous!! Have fun!!

I think he did like 2-3 encores for our show. One was "your song" which he dedicated to his fans and the other was Daniel.

There was a pre-sale for his fan club this mornng that I signed up for. I didn't get tickets. Soooooooooooooo disappointed. I'll have to try tomorrow along with about 100,000 other people trying to get tickets when they go on sale to the public!!! Here's hoping it will work out.

We saw him and Billy Joel together in Cleveland. The concert was great but the audience was very quiet. I hated that!

I got tickets this morning for the Halifax show! I am sooooo thrilled! I have wanted to see him forever but I never thought he would come this way. I still have to drive five hours but that is OK. I am a fan club member so I was able to get tickets as soon as they went on sale this morning. It is almost as exciting as a Disney trip!!!

I joined the fan club too and tried to get the tickets. But by about 2 minutes after 10 they were all gone. I got held up on that stupid security page with the numbers, I typed it in wrong.

Tickets go on sale here today at 12:00. Here's hoping the ticket fairies are with me today. I sooooooooooooooo want to go to this concert.

Hope you have better luck trying than us to get tickets. Ticket Atlantic was way overloaded in Halifax - we couldn't get through until they were down to single tickets.

I had 2 tickets on the floor for Friday night & the site froze up & wouldn't confirm the sale!!

Well, I had five people trying to get tickets for me. And one of my co-workers ended up getting me two tickets on the floor for Row Z - she wasn't even one of the five that i had trying. It was crazy trying to get tickets. I never ever did get through to even purchase. I'm very happy that we got tickets - but there are an awful lot of disappointed people.

But what really irked me about it all - the scalpers. There were tickets on e-bay selling for $2700 for four tickets - in row BB on the floor. Its so irritating that there are true fans out there who want to go - then there are those just out there to make a profit.
