OT: Elf Capades 2009..... post your ideas/past elf pranks here! :o)

Our twin elves, Jingle and Jangle, arrived this morning with a scrapbook for the boys to write them notes or questions. The elves will respond in the scrapbook as well. One son immediately ran to write down his question: "do u muv?" :lmao: They loved playing with the elves today, and couldn't wait to sprinkle the "magic snowflakes" over them before bedtime tonight. (fyi...I found the "magic snowflakes" in the mini tree ornaments section at Hobby Lobby. I just cut off the hanger part. there were some confetti ones in another section, but they weren't as cute/glittery/magical looking as the mini ornaments).

Tonight, our elves will make snowmen out of marshmallows and toothpicks.

Our elf has arrived for the first time tonight. He has packed my son's lunch box with: a can of green beans, 2 dog bones, a can of cat food, valencia orange peel, steak seasoning mix, a box of brown sugar, and a bottle of wine. He's sitting on top of it awaiting discovery!:)

I left him with a scrolled note to my son and a new Disney pin attached (for our Jan trip).

I didn't explain a lot in the note, just that he's watching for Santa and that he hopes he won't be any trouble. I named him Flurry McCloud, he's the elf by Fiesta that Amazon is selling for 13$, he's really cute.

My kid is 11, so he'll know it's from me, but I hope he has fun with it anyway. Tomorrow night I'm going to wrap the walls of his play room with Christmas paper and hang Flurry from the ceiling fan. Thanks to the OP:cheer2:, I had never heard of this before reading your post!

I bought a Mickey Mouse in a Santa costume and I am thinking about using him in place of an elf. I also thought that our stuffed Perry the Platypus might be a good idea...secret agent P could be working for Santa. Has anyone else used a Disney theme?

That sounds like a good idea, an actual agent P to watch over you! How fun! He's the best character on the show.

This one worked great for this morning--one elf was running the controls of the remote control car & the other sat inside the car. Looked hilarious!

Jingles came on Friday... he came with his scroll letter to the kids and presents because they've been good this year and he missed them (target $1 spot nutcrackers and a $5 nutcracker movie for my niece and wiggles CD for nephew)

Saturday morning he was in the fridge with 2 frosty disney christmas mugs.

Right now he's in the toy room and he drew a picture of santa and has some target $1 spot coloring books by him for the kids to color in.

Jingles likely won't get into so much trouble this year as just playing with their things.... Aunt Cindy has way too much going on right now to create and clean up messes this year LOL!

Our Elf Sprinkles got into the real sprinkles this morning, the kids got a kick out of it. I think tonight he'll get into the socks and maybe put them on the tree hehe

DS found Flurry sitting in his lunch box this morning, it was not a very warm reception. He was actually really confused as to how he got there, he asked if I did it, of course I said no, so then he figured DH or grammy must have done it. Honestly, I thought he would know it was from me, and he totally missed the Disney pin attached until I pointed it out. He also wouldn't read the note, I had to read it to him :sad1:.

I'm hoping that as the pranks and gifts continue he'll warm up to Flurry. Also, he had a bit of a cold last night, I gave him some Benadryl to help him sleep and stop the congestion and he still seemed really groggy this morning. Of course, he is 11 and I might have missed my opportunity :sad2:.

DD found that Frankie had completely TP'ed her Room last night... I was GREAT!!! She loves her elf... hes giving her a Littlest Pet Shop Advent Calender tonight so I have to figure out how to give her that - but so far - Frankie the Elf has been a HUGE success at our house!!!!! and by the way my non-believer this is stupid DH is into it now after only four nights!!! its great!!!

Pull pranks for one week and he see if he warms up. I'm sure your DS is confused- and thinking your nuts expecting him to enjoy an elf toy at his age! But it is really not abt. the elf, it's abt. the mischief to come! Let the mischief commence!

My DS12 is enjoying the elves as much as the rest of the kids. He does not squeal with delight but he does smirk  & occasionally comments "Ha, nice one." That works for me! That equates to a standing ovation in preteens growing by inches overnight (their brains are soaking in hormone marinades!)... just remember to keep that in perspective when you see all the posts with thrilled little ones.

DH commented how much HE WISHED we had known abt. elves when ours were tots! Seing how much they are enjoying it now... it would have been magical when they were tykes. Not a good time for baby envy- LOL! :scared1:

Did you explain at all to your DS about the elf, and what he is there for or did he just show up in his lunch box? I could see that being confusing for a kid LOL
My DS is 11 and he totally gets the elf magic in all of it, he's a bit on the fence about santa this year because he is sure it is impossible for one person to get around the entire world in ONE night.

Hopefully your DS will warm up to the idea with a little encouragement from mom :) Or you could write hima letter from santa explainging why he sent the elf to visit your hoome! Good Luck!

I just love this thread. :goodvibes

We started the elf this year for my nephew. He is six. I honestly wasn't sure he would buy is, but he did...totally. I got the elf and wrote a letter from Santa to go with it. I sprinkled that very very fine glitter on the letter and around the elf. My brother's family all went out to see the tree lighting downtown and I went over there and left the elf out. My brother said while he was reading Santa's letter my nephew said "DAD! He moved! His hand moved!" LOL!

So far, Poppintoes has wound up on top of the tree, he took the angel off and put her in his spot on the mantle. He toilet papered the bathroom and this is good.... my brother bought some cheap christmas wrapping paper and he "wrapped" the doorway to my nephew's bedroom...he had to break through the paper to get out. :rotfl: You have to be really quiet doing that one, but my nephew sleeps like a rock.

I NEVER dreamed my brother would be as into this as he is. I thought I would be lucky if he and my SIL remembered to move Poppintoes from the mantle every night to be found in the morning, but they are loving it. My brother even wants to set up his video camera to "tape" Poppintoes at night. Edit the tape so it looks like Poppintoes disappeared and make noises behind the camera, like Poppintoes is playing or whatever. I can't believe he's coming up with such an elaborate ideas! I loved the wrapping papered doorway! He also wants to sneak in his room one night and hang Christmas lights all around his bed.

What fun this is (and I'm only the Aunt!) wish I had heard of this when my nieces were little.

HOW FUN!!! my kids were talking tonight about how they should set up cameras to catch their elves in action. I Love that your brother is totally getting into it. Last year we did Christmas at our cabin and my husbands brother came to visit and he was all into it too. It made it very fun!

Our magic elves arrived last night

at the end of the holiday season last year my middle son (6) saw the elf that is just like the magic elf my mom has in a store so I had to make up a story about how sometimes Santa puts elves up for adoption and those elves get to decide if they want to be part of Santa's Magic Elf Program or not.
My middle DS addopted Elvin Jingles

And My DD (4) adopted her elf from a garage sale this summer. Miss Trixie

Santa wrote a letter telling the kids that Elvin and Trixie have been working very hard in Santa's E.I.T. Program (Elves in Training) and that they will be graduating this comming friday, and that their final grade will depend on how well they behave their first week as magic elves.

Their first night here they set up the kids' mini christmas trees, Elvin got all tangled up in the lights, Trixie put her magic Christmas fairy from her grammy on my daughters tree and Skeeter was riding the trains on my ds 11's tree :) They brought with them little mini scrapbooks that I got for 50 cents last year :)

Tonight they will be setting up some printable play sets from HERE and leaving a note telling the kids to be sure and watch Prep & Landing tomorrow night on ABC.

The kids all wrote notes to their elves tonight so they will be answering those tonight as well :)

Wrapping the door is a good idea, I am going to wrap the walls in DS playroom tonight, now I'll cover the door too. I'll hang Flurry from the ceiling fan.

DS wasn't thrilled about Flurry this morning (our 1st day) but I really think he was drugged from the Benadryl I gave him before bed. By the time he got home he was laughing a little about it.

Last week, DS3 shattered his elbow and needed surgery. Yesterday, we had to go and get a cast on his arm--he chose green. When he woke up this morning, Snowflake had on a green cast, too. And was eating cereal with syrup and sprinkles.

Poor little guy... prayers for a speedy recovery! I like that Snowflake is joining him in the healing process:) I bet he got a kick out of that!

Oh no, your poor little guy! Wishing him a speedy recovery! What a great idea to have snowflake be hurt too!

Thanks, guys! When we went for x-rays and casting yesterday, DS3 was fascinated by the pins sticking out of his elbow. Me, not so much--I wasn't sure if I wanted to cry or throw up. But, it's not slowing him down much.

I think Snowflake just has the cast on out of sympathy. Maybe tomorrow morning, it'll be "signed" by some of his elf friends, though.

Maybe if your DS is a sound sleeper you could take a picture of snowflake with a pen signing your son's cast :) to catch him in the act!

My kids really love to take pictures of our elves mischief LOL

That does have potential--little guy sleeps like a log. But for now, he wears the sling to bed. In a few days, he probably won't anymore, so I'll file that one away.
