My neighbor invited me to a ceremony at which her 16-year old son will be made an Eagle Scout. He is a great kid. But, I know nothing about scouting! Please help me.

Does Hallmark sell a card for this occasion? Is is customary to bring him a gift? If yes, about how much should I spend and what type of gift should I bring?

Any insight or experience will be appreciated!

As the mother of 2 Eagle Scouts and having been to many ceremonies I think I can answer your question.

Yes I think Hallmark does have a card but it is sometimes hard to find. Just get a congratulation type card and it will work. If it is red, white and blue that is even better. If there is a Scout Shop nearby you they would have some Eagle cards that you can write in.

A gift is not neccesary but most people do give them. YOu could give a gift card to his favorite sporting or camping store. Or a gift card to the Scout shop. I would give about $20. SOme people give more some give less. It is just a nice gesture.

It is quite an accomplishment and it is a day to celebrate.
