I tried this post on the Community Board and got no answers, so thought I might try it here...sorry it is not WDW related!!
Need advice from DIS's who have might have driven part of these routes as to which to take!
I am driving from Maryland to New Orleans area. I am not in a rush to get there, am not concerned about going a few extra miles, and will be breaking my trip into drivable 6/7 hour chunks and spending the nights at hotels. I am planing this trip for end of November, coming back before Christmas.
I have a choice of the shortest/quicker way which is taking 70 to Frederick then 81 through Roanoke, then onto Charlotte, 75/50 through Chattanooga, Birmingham, then 55 from Jackson into Louisiana. The only negative to this is the more "mountainous" trip in late fall/early winter. I have traveled bits of this trip before, especially the Virginia part.
The other way is 95 to Richmond then through Charlotte, 85 through Atlanta and 20 to Birmingham, then into Jackson and down to Louisiana. This way avoids more mountainous areas, but is a little longer and I have to deal with DC, the dreaded 95, Charlotte and Atlanta.
Any suggestions, advice, etc?
Thanks in advance!!
