OT- does this make sense to you?

I understand the limited space possibilty, but I would still definitely go! You don't have to stay the entire time, just enough to give her a hug/kiss and for her to know that you did go.

Another teacher here. I took the note in saying that they did not need anymore volunteers to plan/help with the party...not that you couldn't actually attend.

At my school with have about 4-5 parent volunteers to plan for the party (different groups of parents for different parties) and basically run the party on that day, however, ALL parents are welcome to attend (and they usually do!):thumbsup2

Your child belongs to you  ; I wouldn't worry about being "rude" by showing up. I was a public school teacher :teacher: , and I would never have been upset if a parent came to a holiday party! If I was short on volunteers, and someone showed up and wasn't helping-that would bother me. If you and your daughter would be happiest, then I say go to the party. I know that there are many times in life that things can't go my kids' way, but as long as the choice is in my hands as to whether they are happy or not, I will choose happy  !
