If you own a Toyota Matrix could you answer a few Questions for me?
1 is it roomy?(I have 3 kids)
2 Does it drive good?
3 Do you love it?
I really want a new Toyota and am trying to decide between Matrix and corolla. I had a corolla and loved it. But they seem like they are very similar except for trunk space. Do you think this is true?

I have a Pontiac Vibe pretty much the same car as a Matrix. We really like it and it seems much roomier than the Corolla as we used to have a Prizm Chevy's version of the Corolla. We have even driven to Disney in it 3 times from PA. Although we only had one child at that time.

I have one and I love love love it. We have 2 in carseats right now, so it is a bit snug.the trunk space is fabulous and the back seats fold down 40/60. It drives like a corolla. We have the XR with extra head room, so for us it is very comfy. We are going to upgrade to a van soon, becuase with the carseats in the back it isn't as roomy as we would like for certain things...like drives to disney, possible hurricane evacs, etc...

The biggest issue for me when driving the matrix XR was the lack of power! I mean not even enough power to merge in my opinion...

Have you considered a Honda Fit, or better yet a Civic? Both very strong competitors to the Toyota's. The Civic is FAR superior to the current Corolla (an all new Corolla is coming next year by the way). And they have special financing on the Civics through the end of April right now... I love my 2006 Civic 4dr, it's awesome!

thank you for responding, my DH and I really like Toyota's and always had the best of luck with them. We have done lots of research and still think a Matrix or corolla will be best choice for us (we live in New England). I guess what I really wanted to know is, is a Matrix basically the same as a corolla as far as driving.

The Toyota Matrix is the same as the Corolla under the "skin". They are built on the same platform. And the Toyota Matrix and the Pontiac Vibe are built on the same platform as well as having the same interior - there are just slight differences in the exterior.

I have had a Vibe for four years and it now has 101,000 miles on it. It has never had any problems other than routine maintenance, tires, brakes, etc. I had two Corollas before the Vibe.

That said, if I had three kids, I don't think a Matrix would cut it. Though if your choice is between the Matrix and the Corolla, the back seat room is identical, and you gain the versatility of the folding seats and hatchback.

I just traded my '04 Matrix for a '07 Camry Hybrid. We LOVED the matrix but with 2 kids now it was starting to get a little tight on space. With 3 kids, I think the Corolla is your best bet!:)

How old are your kids? I have 3 also (13,10 and 7) and they fit perfectly and have plenty of room in the backseat. They said they had more space in my Matrix then they did in our Grand Am. I hated cars with hatchbacks and that tacky back window wiper UNTIL I test drove my Matrix! I was in LOVE when I drove it. I do admit that the lack of power gets me at times but I'm a mom of 3 so I don't need the speed.
