Ok, look at the bottom of this box. My countdown banner includes a stay at Delawana Resort in Honey Harbour, ON for the end of August! DW got a call yesterday while I was working that the resort has gone bankrupt! Belly Up! Kaputz! :((
So, we're apparently getting our money back because we reserved with our Visa, but now we're in a quandry as to where to go instead. This would have been our 5th trip to Delawana because the family loved it! Boat rides, free access and bike rentals for riding on Beausoliel Island National Park, breakfasts and dinners included (lunches for the kids), a free beer tasting and nightly entertainment. Where do we go for all of that at a very reasonable price????? DW & I loved it there because it allowed us to relax while the kids had a great time. Need a suitable replacement now.

Wow.....that place always looked so nice. We had considered it for a summer vacation a couple of times.

They have even taken down their website.

I wonder if another company will purchase the property and reopen it under a new name and new corporate ownership?

WOW! That's so sad-we used to go there when we were kids! Been around a very long time.
Wonder what will happen to it-maybe someone will buy it.

When Ernst & Young called us on Monday, they're evaluating the circumstances. They don't have enough money to pay all of us who paid in full for this year, but the Visa insurance should cover that. A web search indicated that they had a 1st mortgage for around $2 million, and a 2nd mortgage for over 4!:scared1:
They're looking for a buyer, but some things were getting old so there's a lot to bring up to date over there. We still love it there, a bit rustic, but a great time!
Hoping that they offer a 'Please Come Back' promotion for 2014 with a sweet deal:worship: We'll see what new owners do. Hopefully don't turn it into a subdivision!

Your last sentence scares me - that's what they did to the trailer park my in-laws had up at Honey Harbour a few years ago, so if the investors did phenomenal on that they may just be in the looking for more property in that area!
