My dd has a large planter wart. I was told by a friend to give her Tagament every day. I was wondering if anyone has experience with using this treatment? If so, I was wondering how it would look as it heals. She has been taking it for about 3 weeks and I noticed that it looks more raw and raised. Before it was just flat. Any help is appreciated

If you google plantar warts you will find a huge variety of treatments. The most popular one seems to be putting duct tape on the wart, cutting off it's oxygen supply. Then scrapping it off, applying more duct tape, repeat until gone.

You can purchase stuff at the store to apply to it to help kill it (like Dr. Scholl's Clear Away Plantar, Salicylic Acid Wart Remover for Feet).

I have a plantar wart and knew nothing about them. When I showed it to my PCP at my annual she recommended I see a podiatrist (which I currently am). The podiatrist put some heavy duty salicylic acid on it and told me to leave it wrapped for 48 hours. She prescribed a drying solution that I apply nightly. I went back today (2 weeks after my first appointment) and she scrapped off a huge chunk. In 2 weeks I go back and she will scrape the rest of it out of my foot.

As my plantar wart is slowly dying it is turning a dark brown color and gotten smaller. Previously I was growing callouses over top of the wart, making it raised.

The whole experience has taught me to never, ever go without shoes.

Good luck to your DD.

See a podiatrist, DD has a big one on her foot and they spread so she now has several. We have an appt in a few weeks to get it off. I had mine cut out and it healed fast. We tried all kinds of things but I've never heard of Tagament, isn't that an oral stomach medicine???

check out apple cider vinegar. I had a small wart, and after reading up on it.. I figured it cant hurt to try this. The wart took a few weeks to be completely gone, and has NOT been back since! It is amazing, I cant believe it!

My DD had one. The root of these can really be deep in the foot. The Dr said to use the over the counter pads with the medicine on them, then the next day use a pumice after the bath and sand it down and then repeat, repeat, repeat. These can take some time to get rid of.

Tagamet is used "off label" for warts and I think as an antihistamine too. I don't have any personal experience with it. My DD was prescribed Urea ointment fro warts on her hand and it has worked pretty well.

Middle DD had maybe a dozen warts on both hands 5 years ago and we tried every over the counter product.Nothing worked.Found out about the duct tape method, and it worked wonderfully!!She would take a warm bath and soak her hands, then we used a pummice stone to scrub at each wart and covered them with duct tape.It took about 2 months for them all to disappear, but she has never had them again.Good luck, hope she gets rid of it soon.

DD had them on hand. Tried everything, from freezing in MDs office, to OTC meds and then did the duct tape... took about a month or so (and DD was fed up w/bandaids on finger) but it worked and luckily they haven't come back

I had a plantar that covered my entire heel. The doctor said it was impossible to cut out (since it would leave me with a huge hole in my foot) so his prescribed treatment was to soak it 20 minutes every night, sand with a pumice stone and apply compound W. Repeat every night until gone. It took a while for it to go away but slowly it peeled off (and did leave small holes in my foot which healed) and disappeared.

My DD 7 had 2 planters warts and I used the over the counter Dr scholls to "freeze" it off. It didn't hurt at all like a treatment she had in the Dr's office on her hand a few years ago. It worked great for her. After about 3 weeks it was gone.

When I was a kid I was told about the duct tape method and it worked so when DD had one I tried it on her and it worked again!

DS had alot on his hands and we tried OTC freeze stuff, dermatologist precribed cream, Duct tape and they came back worse after each one. They spread from his hands to his lips (he would bite them!) Finally i read about the Tagament and started that. I also gave him garlic pills as I read that would help too.
I think what really worked was when we cut fresh garlic and placed it on the warts covered with a bandaid over night. You may use duct tape to cover the garlic but make sure the garlic is ON the wart. The wart may blister but keep doing it it the blister hurts take a couple days off and then start back. We even did this on his lip which he complained about the most but finally we got rid of all the warts!

When my son had a couple of warts on his foot, the dermatologist tried freezing them and that didn't work. We switched drs, this one gave him a series of 3 shots and it worked great. Our copay is $25/visit, so it cost $75.

I had a plantar wart on my foot. It was so painful to walk, I got the dermatologist to cut the wart out. The most painful part of the experience was getting a shot of painkiller in my foot. Everything else was a breeze.

DD got one a couple of years ago after having foot surgery! It was awful and took a long time to get rid of. Keep it covered as they spread and others can get them (like from bathroom floor, etc.). We took her back to her Podiatrist who did the surgery and said removing it would leave a big hole as others said. We went the duct tape route and he also gave her some topical med from the office. I sure hope to never see another one of those in my lifetime!!:scared1:

Use the duct tape! I used the acid then covered with duct tape. Leave the duct tape on until it comes off then repeat the process until the wart is gone. I left mine on an extra week just in case any cells were left behind when my wart fell out. I had a large one that I just couldn't get rid of no matter what I tried, but once I did the duct tape it was gone and has stayed gone. The hole it left behind is gone too. The best part was that this process wasn't painful like some others I tried. Good luck!

My DD had about 10 warts that developed around her fingernail beds, one on her thigh, and one on her elbow. They came out of nowhere. She was put on Tagamet and it worked like a charm. Within 2 months, they were completely gone and she has not had another one since and that was 5 years ago. Good luck!

I had my first ever pedicure about 2 weeks ago. 8 days later I had my first ever plantars wart.
This thing hurts bad. I caught it very early so I am hoping it clears quickly. I always wear slippers or shoes, I only walk barefoot at the beach or pool and with our weather I haven't been to either in 8 months.
I saw the podiatrist yesterday. he scraped off the top layer with a sharp blade then froze it. OUCH that really hurt. I had tears in my eyes. He sold me salycylic acid 17% for $20 and I have to apply it twice a day every day and see him in 2 weeks for another scrape and freeze. I have my trip planned for July 2 so it better be gone by then. I think I will do the duct tape instead of a bandaid since you all say it seems to work.

DD is a swimmer so not able to keep the duct tape on for periods of time. Plantar's warts are rampant in locker rooms and on pool decks. We finally went to see Podiatrist because she had several clusters. We finally got rid of them with several rounds of laser therapy, very painful even with the numbing, used nerve block. Haven't had another one in 3 years.

I would have tried the duct tape method if I could. Good Luck.:thumbsup2

Curac cream is what the podiatrist prescribed. Of course also cutting off the oxygen supply. This has usually worked well for us recently my daughter had to have them lasered and cut out.
