So DH, DD2 and I were at the store the other day and as we browsed she stopped briefly at every toy (and I mean EVERY single toy). A couple she was more interested than others....now DH and I were really wanting to get her the Loving Family Dollhouse and happened to spot it at the store. I pointed it out to DD to get her reaction. She dropped to her knees, put her little hand over her mouth and a quick gasp and jabbered something quick and pointing stuff out ont he box. then got up and moved to the next toy.

Is this enough of a reaction, you think, for her to be interested enough for us to get it? I'm so torn!

If you're unsure if she will play with it, why not try the Fisher Price dollhouse for toddlers or the Loving Family My First dollhouse? The pieces on the my first dollhouse are bigger and the house is smaller, but the price is also less. We have the loving family dollhouse for my girls since my youngest dd was three and it is one of the only things that they haven't lost any pieces to and that they play with on a regular basis. It's hard not to buy them everything when they get those squeals of happiness, isn't it?:rotfl:

We bought my dd then 2 the Fischer Price 1st doll house and she still plays with it at 4 almost 5. The pieces are bigger, easier to handle and the door bell and phone work. That's a favorite part. She can carry it around with ease and it's durable. It's a nice starter house.

I would go for it! Worse case, you can always pack it up for 6 months, then bring it back out!! My DD never LOVED her dollhouse, but it was always good for awhile.
Then when she got a little brother, he took a few turns with it!! :thumbsup2

My DD had the Loving Family Doll house (heck it is in the rafters along with bins and bins of accessories, she had it til she was 9)- we started with it when she was about 4, prior to that even though she "showed interest" she really didn't have the play/imaginary skills to use it (imo). At that age she loved her kitchen, pretend food and babies. The smaller pieces can be tricky for a toddler to manuever.

Anything new and colorful is going to grab her attention, I would stick with age appropriate so that you do have something to give her later as she gets older.

I bought my DD the fisher price my first doll house when she was around 18 months old. She still loves it! Even my older DD will play doll house with Katie and this house. We have invested in all of the accessories (when TRU has them buy 1 get 2 free a few times per year). In my opinion this is a nice doll house for a 2 year old. It is not super expensive, the accessories are big enough not to get lost and small enough for little hands.

My DD will be 4 in February :sad1: and for Christmas I upgraded her a large wooden doll house that would fit a Barbie. I got her the adorable Only Hearts Club dolls to go with it. We will be keeping the First house as well.

When our DD was 2, we bought the FP Loving Family dollhouse for her for Christmas. We had it opened up Christmas morning with the dolls and extra furniture we had also bought in a bunch next to the house. It was so much fun watching her set up everything and then play with it. It was almost 20 minutes later that she thought to open another present. Yes, it was one of our best Christmas mornings! That dollhouse got tons of playtime and still is in very good condition 9 years later.
And that 2 yr old has now just turned 11 and she still pulls it out every now and then and plays. She just doesn"t tell her friends :). She recently had it out and DS 8 thought it would be a great idea to get all his dinosaurs and ATTACK the house and the people inside!
Ah yes, dinosaurs crashing through the front door, some hanging out of the windows, and others with people in their mouths.
Yes, I do love boys!

I would recommend the my first dollhouse by fisher price as well.I bought that for my DD when she was 2yrs/old and last Christmas(3 yrs old)she got the Loving Family dollhouse. The my first dollhouse has bigger dolls and furniture for her to manipulate easier. My dd loved this toy.
