OT: Daytona 500

Anyone else DISing and watching the Daytona 500 this afternoon?

we so watched the daytona. that is the biggest thing in this house!!!! it's always on my sons birthday weekend. love the daytona!

1) Ryan Newman - finally broke his winless streak! He's my DH's favorite and my second fav
2) Kurt Busch - actually helped his teammate win.
3) Tony Stewart - my favorite driver ... looked like he ALMOST had it but not quite.

Still overall a very good race and the last 10 laps were BRUTAL!

I know who Ryan is.. He is a Hoosier too!!!
As is Tony Stewart.. actually Tony Stewart lived in my hometown (where I graduated HS) for a while during his midget racing year.. that is why he is known as the "Rushville Rocket"..but he was born and raised in Columbus, IN.. and is also known as the "Columbus Comet"...

In some houses there are Superbowl Parties, not mine. We have race parties; one at the beginning of the season and one at the end. Today I had seven men hanging out in the living room watching the race. Even brings a dish, we have tons of food; ribs, shrimp, sausage bread, all sorts of goodies. For some reason there was a lot of salad left over though. LOL

The beginning part of the race was uneventful, but the end it picked up. Good for Ryan Newman for winning!

no Daytona widow here, call me back when Formula 1 starts. LOL Then I can scrap and DIS all I want. DD and DH will be glued to the TV.

thanks calanniebu! i have been told by many of family members that we can't have ds bday party on daytona sunday! i did that on his 1st and won't ever do that again!!!!

and you're right. what a finish. ds got home depot tools for his bday, so he was all excited and i thought for sure tony stewart would take it!!! i happen to be a jimmy johnson fan myself. and of course i love dale jr.

and lisa we also have the daytona party and not super bowl party too!! my dh will watch the superbowl, but not really a football fan. i think being from new england he has becoming one, but not a life long football fan.

Being that you are right up there practically in Patsland, Po3, I guess it is hard to get away from football. Give me a car race anyday. When people start talking about football, my eyes glaze over.
