OT: crossing the border at Sarnia ON

On the american side, can anyone suggest a close grocery store to pick up some fruits and veggies after we cross the border?

There's a Meijer store in Marysville, Michigan. After you cross the bridge at Port Huron then I-94 heads directionally south towards Detroit. The store is at Exit# 266 on the east side of the interstate.

I cross the border ALL the TIME! As soon as you go through customs, (like 5 seconds after!) you'll have the choice to stay straight (bends to the left) and get on the interstate or else go right towards Pine Grove Ave, Fort Gratiot, MI. Go right! Stay in the right hand lane. You'll come to two, very close in proximity, street lights. Go left at the 2nd set-FYI: BOTH lanes bend left, so no need to get out of travelling in the right hand lane! (you're now on Pine Grove Ave) look out the right hand side, and within minutes you'll see a Kroger. Actually, you have several choices as Pine Grove is a very busy road. There are lots of grocery stores, department stores, restaurants, and even a mall to chooses from! Use google to find an addess for Kroger in Fort Gratiot and then Mapquest it. (don't forget to Mapquest back to the highway as it is a different road then you come down) Really it's only 5 minutes from the border. Good luck and safe trip!

That's the same store we went to two years ago when the customs officer confiscated our dog's bag of dried food. I can't repeat what I was thinking at the time. It had really easy access to the interstate.
