OT: Cosco Scenera carseat

I know the Cosco Scenera carseat is often recommended here as a great travel carseat. I bought one last year and have had a heck of a time trying to install it RF. For all of you experienced Scenera users, is there a trick to getting it installed RF?

Is FF installation any easier? DS is 23 lbs, but will probably weigh a little more by the time we travel. He could go FF if necessary, but I'd prefer to have him RF.

use a pool noodle or rolled up towel (or two or 3) to help angle it correctly for RFing. It is a pain to install RFing. It is easy to install FFing but I applaud you for keeping him RFing

Thank you. I did try one towel, but maybe another towel or two will help. I'll give that a try and see what happens.

The Scenera can be tricky to install rear facing but usually 2-3 sections of small pool noodle, or a tightly rolled towel, will resolve the issue. These sites have some information on it which may help you out:

Here's a picture of a rear facing scenera that shows how it should look.

Also, check your LO's height before turning him f/fing. All the Dorel seats have a 34" minimum for fwd facing. Your LO can ride r/fing until he has less than 1" of shell above his head OR he reaches the 35lb r/fing limit. He is 5x safer r/fing in an accident than fwd facing as well, so you're right to keep him r/fing right now.

I used a towel, and I didn't find it too bad to install. DD4 was rear facing until she was 2 1/2. I think (I may be confusing this with FF since it has been a while) that I twisted the "female" end of the seat belt, too.

Thank you so much for this information. I really appreciate it. Thanks also for mentioning the height minimum for FFing. I knew that there were weight and age restrictions, but I never thought to look for height restrictions as well. I was originally thinking that I could put DS FFing as a last resort, but he may not be tall enough.
