My mom is a spry 77 years young but I noticed she is having trouble getting her shoes and boots on. She is wearing a clog type of comfort shoe more and more because she doesnt have to bend down to get them on. I was thinking of getting her a short, warm, comfortable winter boot for Christmas (with a gift receipt!). She will not spend the money on herself to buy a good boot and I know she would love it but when I go out to look I am seeing either really, really expensive ones or very poor quality ones. I am good with spending about $100 but less would be better.

Any suggestions? I know a few of my fellow Canadian Dis Board folks were talking about plantar fasciatis and boots in another thread.

Do you have a pair of shorter, easy to get on (like, I mean super easy, almost slip on) winter boots that you can suggest to me?

Any help is appreciated-thanks!

Actually @bababear_50 how were those boots you bought from Soft Moc on Black Friday?

Did they have grip in the bottom? Were they warm?

One word. Blundstone. A bit spendy, but amazing boots and easy on/off.

ETA: Oh, sorry, just reread with your price target, you won't find Blun's that cheap. Anyone who can chip in?

BTW - get the 3' long shoehorn from IKEA as well. About $3 IIRC. I've had one for ages, and the PT recommended that same one for mom after her hip replacement.

Ohhh I love your long shoehorn suggestion-that is a great idea! thank you

Hi Hon
Just my Honest Opinion,,I know others love them.....
I tried them for a few hours around the house BUT,,my skin condition flared due to the heat and I ended up returning them.
I would not say they were easy to put on,,and the size was definitely weird--I am a 6 1/2 -7 and I ended up getting a size 8.
My sister inlaw bought these for her mom recently

I bought low winter boots at Ronson Rack. Pile lining, super comfy with a zip for easy on- off. Ronsport brand.

I've got the Softmocs and I've got the Sketchers shown above. The Sketchers are easier to put on and off than the Softmocs and are definitely comfortable and grippy. I actually find the Softmocs to be more comfortable (more arch support) but they are a bit harder to put on and off. They are more fitted around the ankle. I normally wear a 6 1/2 and I have a size 7 in both of the booties.

COlumbia does a great slip on boot. It’s right around $100 at soft moc. They’re waterproof lightweight and easy to get on and off. I have no idea how to link anything here, but they have something called omni heat technology. I have the lace up ones and they are the best most comfortable boots I’ve ever worn.
