Okay I'll try and explain why I have Downy all over my bathroom walls ...I am in the process of removing wallpaper in a bathroom(I hate wallpaper--this house had EVERYTHING wallpapered when we moved in!) and was told by a friend to strip wallpaper with a mixture of fabric softener and water. Worked like a charm, except now I have downy all over the walls. I washed the walls down with a little Dawn and water, but the walls are still sticky. Won't I need to get that stuff off before I paint? How do you get fabric softener off walls? I guess I could use a little more Dawn in the water, I was just afraid it would hurt the drywall/sheetrock/whatever it is.
I am so clueless....! Thank you to anyone with suggestions!!
I thought this thread was going to be about something like when my 3 yr old emptied a bottle of Downy on to my MIL carpet last summer. I can laugh about it now
Sorry I can't help.
But let us know how it goes in the end. I need to take some wallpaper off in the fall. And tips and tricks are great.
I would try Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. I swear by that product. Will clean just about anything.
For future reference, to remove wallpaper, use a product called Dif Wallpaper Gel. It's a blue gel the works great at getting wallpaper off. It does leave a bit of a residue, but it can be wiped off with a wet cloth. Very easy to use. I'm sure they have it at "your local home improvement store".
