I'm taking my boys to have Christmas photos done at Penneys this weekend. Our Penneys has the hand-held cameras, so they can shoot high, low, etc. Much like Picture People for those of you who use them.

My question: Does anyone have cute ideas for poses? The boys are 13 and 7. For the past 3 years we'd done formal family photos...I want this to be a casual picture with just them.

If you have suggestions and/or photos to share, it would be greatly appreciated! I've looked at Penneys, Sears, and the Picture People's sites and haven't seen anything amazingly cute.

TIA
Beth

I'm looking for the same thing - but my boys are 5 and 20 months. Last year we wrapped a big box and put a lid on it. We put my then 10 month old in the box with a bow on his head and my then 4 year old is holding the box up with a surprised look on his face. It was great! Of course, they were at a great age for that photo. Now I need something to top that . . .

The only thing I can think of is to take something they are both into and get some shots of them interacting together. For mine, I could easily take trucks - not sure what that would be for your 7 and 13 year olds??

We have 4 kids and I love getting good pics...sometimes that just means a great shot of their face and other times I want a fun pose, etc.

For the 7 and 13 year old, maybe a shot with the younger child on the back of the older one...could be a standing shot so like a piggy back ride, or a shot on the floor with older child laying and younger child on top?

For the 20 month old and the 5 year old I might try one of the shots with the kids lying on their back on the floor with their heads at right angles to each other. Can be tough to get boys that age to be still, but I have seen these shots turn out really cute.

Any tips for getting good Christmas card pictures at home?

I have 3 girls and we did a "formal" portrait at Sears ($4.99 for 35 pics plus a free 10x13!!! no sitting fee) I usually get my cards at Costco, which by the way has new cards this year that are larger and very nice which the option for multiple pictures. While I love the sears picture I did not want to pay $40 for 20 cards, eventhough I got a great deal on the original package of pictures.

So, I would love to do a similar picture at home in front of our tree or the fireplace but every year I end up with shadows behind them or I am at the wrong angle, etc. It is much easier with 1 or 2, with 3 kids I have trouble getting the right arrangement.

So any suggestions would be appreciated!!
