Is such a thing possible? I am trying to find the best way to fly. I was thinking of flying out of Buffalo to LA (SW) and then maybe flying Aloha Airlines to Honolulu or I am wondering if it is better to just use SW's subsidary ATA to Fly from Buffalo to Honolulu (or if it's cheaper to fly from Detroit). We found a reasonably priced Hawaiian cruise ($3200 US for 7 days for the 4 of us) Aug '08 but the airfare is almost as much as the cruise. The cheapest I have found is about $2900 US for the four of us on Continental ( SW or ATA prices are not yet available for our dates) I don't know if that is good or not). Has anyone ever flown cheap to Hawaii?:goodvibes

We're looking at the same thing. I've heard terrible things about ATA. We're thinking about trying to get a cheap SW flight from Buffalo to Las Vegas and then fly Hawaiian Airlines from Las Vegas to Hawaii. This way, you avoid flying ATA and, if you take the non-stop BUF/LAS flight, you only have one stop-over between Buffalo and Hawaii.

Hawaiian Airlines has some amazing deals. You just have to check constantly on their website. Join their Hawaiian Airlines mileage plan and get $10 more off on each ticket. For a family of 4, that's a good $40 in savings!

We live in Vancouver and drive to Seattle to fly out from there. Our trip in August from SEA to Maui cost us $335 per person.

Last year, we flew from San Jose, CA, to Kauai for $340 per person.

You may want to fly on Hawaiian from a West Coast city like Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Jose, Portland or Seattle for better prices. Just find a cheap airfare to get you to those cities (Jet Blue?).

Hope that helps!

We've done BUF-LA-Maui twice. Both times we took SW to LA and the whatever was cheapest from LA to Maui (was United both times, not every airline goes right to Maui).

We also tacked on 2 days at Disneyland on both trips ;)

Try West Jet.. they fly once a day now (alternating Maui/Honolulu) out of Vancouver.... there are sometimes some GREAT seat sales! We are leaving next week!

We love Hawaii and try to go every 2nd year or so. You can get reasonable airfare from Buffalo (notice I did not say cheap!) but it takes some doing. Keep in mind that when you are looking to go (Aug) is prime honeymoon time so I do not think you will pay less than 500/us/person round trip. Here is how I begin to start looking for airfare when we plan our Hawaii trips. Sign up for every and all electronic notification you can. Aloha Airlines and Hawaiian both have newletters and email alerts. Sign up on Kayak.com, travelocity.com, expedia, orbitz, etc...The last few times we have gone via Los Angeles or Orange County which gave us time in Disneyland California, which really breaks up the long plane ride. I do not like to cruise as I get majorly seasick BUT I do tell people it is an excellent way to do Hawaii because you get a flavour for all the different islands as well as having your food included which can be pricey in Hawaii. Good luck, Hawaii is such an amazing place-you will adore it!

As of Jan Southwest flies from Buffalo to different places in Hawaii - might get lucky and find a sale fare!
Or try searching at kayak.com
