PoppyOlivia I have a swollen eye as well but i didn't get any toys for christmas!!!! Went to the doctors yesterday and was given course of antibiotics. Hasn't gone down and is starting to spread down side of face:scared1: I'm not feeling too festive. Christmas day was spent treating head lice. The joy of being a teacher and coming into contact with yuk!

Not nice! I'm glad I don't teach little kids, they are always riddled with lice. :lmao: My eye swelled after taking ibuprofen. It went all itchy and then swelled up and closed up. My cheek was all puffy too. It went away of its own accord about 24 hrs later.

yeah thats what i think as well.

emma ive just finished reading your tr from jan last year. looks like you had a great time. as usual you are helping me make up my mind lol

lol! Glad to be of service.

I'm just about to watch changeling, a depressing film for a depressing night :lmao:

Im not a massive fan of new year either.

DS1 has just headed off into town for the night and DS3 has gone to a party - the rest of us and just curling up watching TV as normal (and eating of course)

We have promised DD she can stay up til midnight but I think I might be asleep before she is

Evening all. I'm another one who's stuck at home lol. Well, by choice really. I've never been a big fan of going out on New Year's Eve - too many people and everything's just too pricey. So, we'll be getting a bottle of champagne out in a bit and the drinking and snacking will commence lol. Just hope that there's something good to watch on telly (I doubt it though - telly has been crap for the past so many nights lol). We've just taken the tree decorations down but the tree is still there (although branches are all scrunched up already) and will be put back in the loft tomorrow. We usually leave it till after New Year but the place is such a mess that I wanted it down!! We'll be spending New Year's Day trying to sort the toys out and asking the kids what they want/don't want anymore. So I think I'll be ebaying after New Year :) .

That happened to me many years ago when I took Sinutab (or something like that - for cold/flu). My eyes just swelled up (it was awful!) and I didn't realise that it had to do with it. I took it again a few months later and same thing happened. Then it clicked. So now I don't take any of that sort of cold capsules/tablets - only Lemsip and whenever anyone makes a trip back to Malaysia, I always ask them to get a fresh supply of flu tablets from my dad lol (he's a GP in Malaysia).

OMG thats dreadful, is it sore?

Hope you feel better soon! xx

We are all in as well - have played Cluedo, then loaded up Mario Kart on the Wii - that was really good fun - everyone eating and drinking now and surfing the net til we decide what to play next! Mince pies going in the oven soon as well - Happy New Year everyone!!

Its not sore but it doesn't look good. Doctor thought it was something to do with infection on side of face. I came into contact with impetigo last week of term!

((hugs)) Fiona, I work with pre-school children and so far (touching wood and everything here) - I've avoided anything major (apart from coughs/colds/virus).

It's one of my favourite games and my DD1 as well, she got a new copy for Christmas and has been itching to play it. This time it was Miss Scarlet in the Study with the rope!!

I always liked Miss Scarlett as well, but DD1 grabbed her first! I was Mrs Peacock, well I learnt things about her that I never knew! Widowed three times, left England due to her involvement in a messy romantic triangle with TWO important political figures - also didn't realise her daughter is Miss Scarlett!

I developed a super-immunity to everything over the years and then went on maternity leave and seemed to pick up everything when I went back to work. I blame working conditions. I'm in a damp, badly ventilated classroom (or worse a terrapin) and surrounded by 30 coughing, spluttering, sneezing teenagers. It's just one big mush of germs. Yuk.
