This is the first birthday cake I have ever made! My daughter (who is 9 tomorrow) wanted a homemade cake and she also wanted to decorate it. I made the cake and then stood back (supervising) while DD did the rest. My daughter is so pleased with it!

I am available for weddings, christenings....

Hi everyone! Just wanted to share this with you all:

A lady at work gave me the cake recipe but the design is all Olivia's. It was much more straightforward than I thought it would be. I bought a slab of fondant icing, colours and cutters and off we went.

believe me, after all the cakes ive made, i still panic that it wont taste good (so i slice a thin bit off a part of it so i can taste it )

well done, u both did a fab job!!!! hope she has a great birthday tomorrow!!!

which reminds me, i need to look at baking a cake for ds2s birthday on 30th and havent even thought about it!!! hope i can find sum roll on icing still!!!!

way hay I feel like part of the gang ... I think I'm getting ill!!! I was beginning to think I was a robot or something!!

Bones hurt, sore throat, runny nose and tired...yay I'm human!!!

oh paul is finished at 4.45..boy I'm going to milk this to the hilt!! I never get ill so I'm gonna go for gold!

You are all really kind. It was a lot easier than I thought it would be. Once I'd rolled out the icing and stuck it on the cake, I gave Olivia the coloured icing and the cutters and off she went. I'm incredibly proud of her, as she is very artistic. She did a number '8' in the middle until I pointed out that she would be 9 tomorrow!

sounds fun - Ive been shopping in Cambridge - it was very busy but quite nice as we were mainly browsing so didnt feel we were rushing round to get things
