OT: ChaCha

I just got deactivated as a guide!!!! There was an email saying that I had "consistent low scores" and could not be part of a team where customers depend on guides. What????? I never ONCE got any kind of emails from Chacha saying I had answered questions wrong. I did learn from reading the forums and here that I had linked to some sites for questions that I shouldn't have, but that was only a handful of times. I haven't been active on Chacha for about a week now-can't help but think that has something to do with it, especially in light of their difficulties.

I know a lot of people here depend on Chacha, but I gotta say that now, I really, really hope they go under. Chacha management is going to get a nasty letter from me too, telling them just how ridiculous this all is.

It looks like this has happened to several people today and many more got warnings (some people who got warnings were top guides this week and many other weeks before) I don't get it! I am sorry though.

I think ChaCha just needs to be honest and tell people that they are hurting financially. That is the only logical explanation for all of this. For the past 2 weeks, I have had very few questions. I have wasted plenty of my free time. I am very sorry for those of you who are getting deactivated!

It is getting nuts. The sad thing is, I can't help but wonder if they are hoping people will quit.

this may be EXACTLY what they're hoping for. the prevailing theory is that they hired too many guides then restricted the IS # of questions, so there just aren't enough questions to go around. i honestly don't know what the real story is-rumors are flying like crazy. it seems that after i'm logged on for a few hours, the questions come b2b. however, this morning i've been logged on for 30 minutes with not a question in sight.

Disney1976...i'm so sorry i'd read on the chacha forums this had happened to several people. i wish i had a clue what was going on.

Thanks all for your support! No, I had never made top guide -though I had only been doing it for a couple weeks (maybe 3) before it got slow and I just about gave up. I think the first week I didn't answer enough questions to qualify, but the other two weeks, I know I should have gotten TG-sure enough, there was a thread on the forums of people who felt like they should of made TG but didn't. Shortly after I added my name to that list, the thread was locked. Makes me think that Chacha couldn't afford to maybe pay all these people the TG rate, either.

What's really irking me I guess is the email I got says "emails were sent telling you how to improve and get scores up, blah blah blah...Many guides say they never get these emails." Well, if you know guides are saying they aren't getting emails about something they are doing wrong, shouldn't that tell you something? What about all those times the system just quit on me while I was researching an answer and I had to log back in? I'm sure that counted against me too.

I suppose a more perfect system would be that if you answer a question with an improper cite, etc. you not get paid for it, and an email is sent telling you why you didn't get credit. I think I got paid for every question I answered.

Oh well, I suppose if there's a bright side to all this, it's that I've made nearly $300 this week selling things on ebay. And I spent a heck of a lot less time doing that then with Chacha. At least ebay earns me money while I sleep. When was the last time Chacha did that for you?

That's great you are making so much on ebay! I read a little bit about how to sell on ebay and it scared me off. It just seems too confusing to me. And I don't really have anything anyone would want anyway.

Too funny! I'm a guy, so being a phone sex operator is out. But my ex-wife's former SIL was a phone sex operator, and she did AMAZINGLY well. And she was nothing to look at, sad to say. But she had a good voice, and knew how to work the phones, I guess.

As for ebay, no, it's not difficult at all, just expensive! The fees are quite high. I basically sell theme park merchandise from Disney though, so I never have to worry about finding things to sell. Unless of course, Disney World goes out of business!

Ummm, yeah, I guess there aren't too many women out there calling those 900 numbers, so your probably right about the phone operator not being an option.

I was thinking about the pay also. I think I should transfer what I've made onto my debit card before it disappears! Not saying they would take it, but with the way ChaCha is running their business these days.

pay me now is great, guys. about once a week i just hit the pay me now button and the money is in my FIB account, usually within 5 minutes. you'll need to set up and account with FIB, which will probably take a couple of weeks.

I love pay me now - it is nice to know that I can get the money anytime I want it. Like this week - I know I can work and get my money before I shop on Friday - it would make me mad to not be able to access the money sitting in my account!

log out and back in...I just did and can answer them now - clear your history and cache before you log back in...


For those of you who haven't had questions for a while now -seems like they are for everyone right now!

The same thing happened to me. I got about 5 that never appeared and then said I took too long. But now they seem to be working. I hope those questions don't count against my completion rate because I may barely make 200 questions this week. I can't afford to lose any.

Maggie - those won't count against you b/c you never got the question. The question has to appear on your screen and you fail to answer before it counts against you.

Reports on the forum is that ChaCha seems to be returning! WOO HOO!!

Woo Hoo I am finally able to get questions. I have to fight to click the accept button first but I am seeing questions. I normally have 300-400 questions by this time of week. This morning I had 7. Pittiful. I hope everything will get back to normal now. I am going to bed now and hope everything will be good tomorrow too.

I don't understand how my traffic is B2B, I can log in and out and others have no traffic at all. That really stinks for everyone else! I really thought ChaCha was back to normal!
