Hi,

I'm in the middle of my simulation test and ran into some problems where the program kept shutting down. It shut down 4 times and I couldn't figure out how to get back to them to finish the questions. When I would sign back on, it would give me a new question. How do I contact them to let them know what happened so it's not held against me?

Also, am I supposed to answer 10 or 15 questions? I completed 11 and now I'm not getting anymore, so am I done?

Thanks! I'm really hoping I'm accepted because extra money will come in so handy with 2 Disney vacations and a wedding coming up for me!

Oh my! Here I was mad because I just hate the TV questions I have the worst time finding the "season" as in"what season is prison break going to be in this year?"yadayadayada The writer's strike has thrown off all the season.

I wish that there was a "report back" policy that goes through the phone company records for cases like this. Basically someone needs to tell his Momma on that boy!

I'd tell him that sex with the 10 year old would result in death-his, by the girls father!:lmao:

I have been so slow today. I think my brain is fried:surfweb:

That's a good comeback! I don't want to re-post all of those questions as a quote - I think if I get these in the future, I'm going to look up a website that talks about underage sex offenders. If the kid is 10 or under, the person who is over 10 would be considered an offender, regardless of their age (in some states anyway). It is so stomach churning because so many of us have kids around this age - but eye opening too! You'd better believe that when my DD gets a cell phone, I'll be checking her texting history! She'll rue the day I found ChaCha!

The sex questions are abuse, so don't hesitate to hit abuse. I don't know of any age of consent laws that go down to the age of 10.

as the mother of a 10 year old girl who's entering middle school in 12 days....i was already uneasy about her being in a building with 13-14 year old boys....now i'm terrified. geez, i need to go throw up now. i'm glad i haven't gotten any questions like that.

Have you posted this on the Forum? I would love to know what they would say. I understand that you and I would consider it Abuse but would ChaCha?

The queries I had weren't about sex, per se. I don't want to debate abuse vs. not because I don't think they provide very good guidance about that. Some of the questions indicated fall into a gray area to me (not asking HOW to do something illegal, only if it IS illegal).

And I didn't mean to imply the age of consent was 10 - there is a law (but perhaps not in every state) that basically a kid 10 or under can't be held accountable for ANYTHING because they are too young to understand the consequences of what they are doing. That would make doing anything with a 10 year old or younger criminal, no matter how old the offender is.

Not all sex questions are abuse. Most of them are not. I see alot of questions marked as abuse that just aren't.

for future reference~ if a question bothers you or offends you, you are allowed to hit the abort button. You don't have to answer. I have used it a couple times. You won't get in trouble for it.

Last night I spent some time organizing my regular links and answers. I put my favorite links on the bookmark toolbar (just drag the address onto it) then you can shorten what it says to fit more) and then I added on the clippings add-on and put all of my answers to questions I get all the time in there - you can do folders.

So I have my standards - a chacha folder (how to be a guide etc) a joke folder; sign off folders; common questions -
You can name the quote whatever you want - so my sign offs are listed by # of characters so I know which one to plug in.

I was able to start answering questions so much faster!

These are all great suggestions. i will go try to figure out how to do some of them! Thanks!:thumbsup2

I feel bad for the kids who have to go through a program like ChaCha to get questions answered. While it may make you uncomfortable, maybe it would be a good time to put in some guidance. When I get questions like "what turns a girl on" I always go for the good conversation, being polite, respect, etc. Sex questions I link to a site that promotes safe sex or no sex. I also recommend they talk to their doctor.
My son is 10 and we have had the talk. He asks us questions and feels no shame in coming to his Dad or I when he needs advice or information. But MANY MANY MANY kids do not have that. So I guess I feel like it is my job to give help.

I WISH ChaCha would define more clearly what is abuse and what isn't. And what you can abort and what you can't. I look at this as a job. And there are times you have to put personal feelings aside. Yes it is hard, but that is what we get paid to do. We quote from web sites, so find a web site that has your point of view and go with it.

I have my bookmarks, but I've seen other people talking about clippings. Where did you get the add-on for it? Is it easy to use?
Thanks!

ETA: Regarding Aborting inquiries - even though the KB article says the Abort button is NOT an "I don't want to answer this query" button, they have apparently let that rule slide for the time being. So, if you do get a query that you find extremely offensive but isn't necessarily abuse, you can hit abort and send Feedback right away indicating why you aborted the query. I guess the key is to send feedback immediately so HQ knows why it was aborted. I actually posted this question on the ChaCha forum yesterday and that was the response I got from the mods. This may change once categories are functional.

This is from the Participation agreement:

Section 3.-b.- iv.
Prohibition Against Use of Automated Methods to Provide Services. You agree that you shall not use robots, scripts, or other automated methods to provide the Services other than as provided by ChaCha.

You can use Add-ons like Clippings for your "sign-offs" but not for the answers to queries.

There is a big discussion about this going on in the ChaCha forum right now.

A mod came on and clarified that if you found the answer yourself and save it - you can absolutely use it in clippings. What that is refering to is that people used to write scripts that completely did the search and wrote the answers.

I wrote the answers and put them in my clippings - this is no different from their suggestion to save your answers in a document to have them readily available - I still have to go to the website to link my answer.

This is the clippings add-on - It is so easy to use!

I did the clippings too. But for some reason it's still faster for me to type my "Thanks for using ChaCha" message than it is to do the clippings. I wonder if there's a program we can use where we'd just hit 1 or 2 buttons rather than having to right click and scroll down?

Did you organize them into folders? Once I did that - they were so much easier to find and then I could number them by the # of characters - then I have a sign off for every situation.

there are ways to program hot keys but I found them too difficult and was worried they would affect my hubby when he is online.

Okay, two things...Am I the only one uncomfortable when people ask medical questions? I give the info, but always follow up please call your doctor!!!

And how many of you have gotten the query "how much wood does a woodchuck chuck..." I have gotten that 7 times since Sunday! :lmao: It's easy, but strange to get it so many times!

How to you use the clippings in a reply? I understand how to put them into clipping, but don't know where you go to access them?:confused3

Right click in a text area -- in fact, if you reply to this message you can access it. Anyway, right click, then scroll down to clippings and you'll see your choices.

I finally took my Sim test this afternoon. The system did lock up for me once and wouldn't connect me to one of the queries I ok'd, but hopefully things worked out anyway, I could sure use the extra cash.
