I'm hoping someone can help me out. I'm going down to NYC tomorrow to the Central Park Zoo and I'm looking for some good places to eat lunch nearby. We're not fancy eaters, just looking for some good burgers, chicken, sandwiches, etc. I know NYC is expensive but I don't want something that's going to break the bank either. Does anyone have any good recommendations?

Im pretty sure there is a cafe right by the zoo...also in the time warner center there are a bunch of options, whole foods is in there with a huge area of salad bars etc...as well as the bouchon bakery is good..great desserts

patsy pizzeria (i think its west 74th street) is very reasonable as well.

There's a couple of good places on 57th between 6th and 7th Ave

When I'm in NYC I usually stay at the Buckingham hotel and these little places have been good on multiple occasions. One is a small coffee shop/deli and right next door is a great italianfood/pizza shop.

There are a ton of small cafes & sandwich shops right on 7th Ave near the park. Between 7th and 8th Ave, also on 57th street is a great diner with awesome burgers and super desserts.

I Googled the walking directions on Google Maps and it says it's about a 15 minute walk, which seems about right.

There's also a Starbucks right around there if you're interested in that.

Have fun!

If you are looking for burgers, there is one place just outside the park that is (or was when I lived there) outstanding. It is located at the Parker Meridien Hotel, 119 W. 56th St. (between seventh and sixth Ave.)

You enter this fancy hotel, walk toward 55th street and you see this green courtain. Inside is what looks like a greasy spoon place. Don't be fooled. The best burger I had in New York. It is small, crowded with locals and a bit like the soup nazi skit on Sienfeld. They are nice though. A unique NYC experience. Also reasonable prices for NY.

My mistake. It is between Avenue of the Americas and Seventh Avenue. Hope you have a good time in the Big Apple.

If you're not already out in the park, the best burger in town is at Shake Shack, 77th and Columbus, across the street from the Natural History Museum.
