OT - Cat question

I am watching my neighbors cat while they are on vacation. They left this morning. I went over there just now and the cat tried to attack me! I tried to be calm and fearless, but it was chasing me and I was terrified. Anyhoo, I'm sure he still had plenty of food, but I didn't notice how much water he had. Someone else will be coming tomorrow evening to check on him. IF he didn't have any water, would he be okay for 24 hours? They just left this morning, so I'm guessing there was still some water in his bowl, but I just don't know! I don't want to go back!

If there was no water in his bowl and he can get to the bathroom.....and the lid is up......he'll be fine. Sounds gross, but they will find it anywhere. IF his bowl was filled before they left chances are there is still some water in the bowl. I wouldnt worry too much. My cat never drinks a full bowl of water every day!!!

Too funny . Well maybe not to you, but to me. Are you sure it wasn't just trying to get a little lovin' ?

As to the water don't worry about it. It will be fine and as the OP said, if worse comes to worse it will drink from the toilet.

mine will find "old" water anywhere.. usually just 'cause she's too lazy to go downstairs to where the bowl it. She'll even lick the faucet. Boy.. that sounds gross now that I think about it.

One time though.. we came home from vacation and she had turned the faucet on in the kitchen sink, and it was still running. Guess she was really thirsty that time..

Sorry you got attacked. Cats can be very territorial.

Well, if that was love, I'd hate to see him mad!! The thing is, he let me walk all the way to the back of the house. He waited until he had me cornered before he went into attack mode! Seriously, he was hissing, ears back, teeth showing and then a little "rrrAAAAAAIIRrrrr!! I thought, okay he's more scared than me, I'm just gonna go now. So, I slowly turned to walk away and then he started chasing me! Boy, did I run!

Well, thanks everyone. I feel better about the water. We'll see how the next person does tomorrow. She said she's going to wear snow pants just in case he gets ahold of her leg.

I know it wasn't funny to you at that time, but boy does it sound funny. I am not a cat person, so am not that familiar with their tendencies, however, I've never heard of a guard cat. Maybe I should get one. It'd probably eat less and be easier to take care of than the big guard dog I currently have.

Cracking up here too...sorry! We had a cat when I was a kid that would attack men only at the ankles when they came to our house. It just remnded me of that. Sorry you were the attackie!!!
