The I Love BWV (yes, Hallways and Clown Pool too!) Thread

Can't have a fryer, unfortunately. However any of these suggestions would be great! Thanks for sharing!
I know, it stinks. Someone who worked at BRG told us that years ago. I guess that includes the boardwalk huts as well?

The problem is guest rooms above the restaurant space. No way to vent a fryer. :( They dont have the issue on the Inn side of the BoardWalk. Seems to be poor planning.

Right, I’m aware of the reason with the restaurants on the boardwalk. I’m asking about the little stands (I call them huts) on the boardwalk itself (example - like Blue Ribbon). Why can’t they mimic the Jersey boardwalk and do fries there? I’d think they’d be a big hit.

They absolutely could. If there were a desire to upgrade the Boardwalk. In the olden days (1990's and early 2000s) the Boardwalk was really a destination. It had a very active night life and was packed with visitors that did not stay in the hotel. I think Disney decided that Disney Springs should be the destination and since BW competed with it, the BW lost a lot of support. It is just a complete shadow of its former self, especially on the DVC side. I dont think things will change as BWV expires in 2042. Very little time for ROI. All kinds of rumors such as tearing down and putting up a tower in its place when the deeds expire. That will kill it for me, but I dont think I will make it to 2042 anyway.

Sad really. Dont get me wrong. I love the BWV as it was our first home resort. Love the lobby, transportation, theme, all of that has stayed true to its beginnings. But I'm with the majority here. BRING BACK THE BOARDWALK!

They used to have a cheesesteak stand on the Boardwalk, but it closed. No reason it couldn't be done again if they wanted to.

As for the 'can't install grills because of the rooms above' case, there are ways around that - there are thousands of restaurants around the country with residential units directly above that can still prepare traditional grill type foods - there are ventless hood systems that run smoke and grease through multi-stage filters and can be paired with induction grills that produce less smoke and grease, and self-contained ventless grills like EVent that capture grease and smoke. Combined with convection ovens and fast-cook ovens like Turbo Chef which can cook chicken, steak, flatbreads, wings, etc., and self-contained fryer systems like PerfectFry for french fries, onion rings, mozz sticks, and tots, there's no reason they couldn't put a regular burger/diner/quick serve in that spot.

Anyone want a taco stand at the Boardwalk? We donʻt have much fast casual Mexican where I live so itʻs my go-to when I go on vacation. I think there might be a spot at Swolphin.
I think it would be great! Breakfast tacos would be a good breakfast addition.

The problem with doing traditional boardwalk food is that people don’t really seem to want it. Most of those foods, except for maybe Italian or cheesesteaks, are common amusement park/state fair food.

What about a french fries place? Like carne asada fries, chili cheese fries, animal style fries, breakfast tater tot bowls. Or is that no due to fryers? I havent been following that closely since usually we cant eat whatever is gonna be put there anyway w/ our special diet.

Agreed but there also has to be the desire to spend the extra $$ to do so. I just dont see the desire here which is very sad.

There used to be a kiosk on the Boardwalk which had French fries. I believe it was called Boardwalk Joe's.

I agree with PP that if the exterior of a restaurant looks Boardwalk-themed, it doesn't matter what type of food it serves. I never ate at Kouzzina by Cat Cora, but I thought it was Greek and Mediterranean food, which doesn't seem Boardwalk-themed. It seems like Big River Grille & Brewing Works wasn't exactly Boardwalk-themed either.
