I want to send my college freshman niece a care package.
Any ideas on what would be good to include? Besides the obvious-food and money. :rotfl2:
Thank you in advance!

Some winter items (depending on where she is going to school)
Hat, scarf & mittens
Fuzzy socks with the grip on the bottom
Some type of indulgent shower gel

Well I know that I'm ALWAYS in need of notebooks so maybe a couple of those. Like the poster above me said, socks are amazing. If the girl has her car with her, try a couple of giftcards to a local gas station. It would be really appreciated, trust me. Is she into the Stephanie Meyer books? A new one came out recently and maybe you could send her that if she doesn't have it already.

Itunes gift card, new music is always nice. When I would get them as a freshmen last year my parents and a family friend would seriously just go through the cupboards and throw some of this and that in there which was cool because it was like oh what am i getting this time. HOMEMADE COOKIES! if you airtight container them they last! I am a food fan is you can't tell, gas cards are always nice, but i dunno if they do those anymore, at least not around here in CO. Visa gift cards work though so then gas or food or school needs, like those midnight wal mart runs, those are always entertaining.

I tell everyone now that I'm out of school that the best thing to get as a gift in college is American Express gift cards. Or Visa or whatever. You can use them whenever/wherever... so convenient. Much more so then a gc for a particular store. Not sure if she has a car, but she could use this for gas as well... because we all know how broke we are/end up being in our college days!! :cool1:

Home made cookies are definite. Letters, mail, photos of how much there house might have changed. Things to reminded them of home and the people that love them!

I suggest a hand written letter, even if it only takes 5 minutes to write. I loved getting letters from my grandparents. Also, I suggest some random sillyness. Just go to Dollar General or the dollar toy area of walmart and get some random things, like balloons, bubbles, chalk, etc. The most random things can put a smile on your face. They make a great accent to the main gift of food/money.
