I'm looking for a car seat for my DD (13yo). She is 50+ lbs with pretty good head/upper body control but I would like one that uses a 5-point harness instead of just the shoulder strap. She has a very hard time on long car rides. If she can fall asleep, she usually slumps forward. Also, her feet turn deep purple from hanging. We try to place them on top of a cooler but I'm not so sure that would be safe if we were in an accident.

The vendor that we've used for other medical equipments suggested that we look at seats over the counter since the cost of the special needs ones are so high. He suggested the Britax Traveller but I can't find it on their site, only on special needs sites.

I'm also looking for one that would be able to recline more than 10 degrees and still keep her safe.

Any suggestions?

does your daughter do any therapy? maybe a therapist can help you find one that insurance or medicaid (if you have it) would cover. We have a rehab service that my son goes to that helps with ordering wheel chairs and and special equipment and helps with filling out the papers for them too. Just a suggestion. My son is 3 and we got one from fisher price that goes to 60 or 70 lbs and it reclines a little bit he's head control is pretty good in it. I'll have to look at the name but it's like a britax but it was cheaper.:confused3 hope that helps a little
