OT: Cape Hateras??

Has anybody been? Interested in info about rentals and just in general! The dissers know everything!!

I do the upper Outer Banks (corolla) and it is great, wide uncrowned beaches, family atmosphere and reasonable prices (I usually get a summer shoulder week 5 br oceanfront with a pool, hot tub and private walkway to the beach for less than 3k).

We've been to Hatteras (open and quiet), Nags Head (more stuff to do, homes closer together), and Duck (my favorite). There are SO SO many rentals and areas to choose from!

We've been to Hatteras twice. We love it because there is not much to do but relax!! We've used Outer Beaches Reality. I think there is also Hatteras Reality. We've stayed in Avon both years.

Hatteras Island is our new favorite location on the Outer Banks. We like Waves, particularly. Great location - not far from the touristy things of Nags Head and close enough to Ocracoke to make daily excursions less tiring. We also enjoy less crowds -more privacy -more time to relax.

Don't miss the pirate cruise leaving from Oden's Dock -- it turned to be the highlight of our last trip.

WE have friend wqho live in Avon year round, so when we go we stay with them (sorry I can't help you about the rental prices).

WE LOVE the OBX. Avon is not as commercial as some of the more northern beaches, which is what we like. It still has shops and such, but less people. You are also close to Hatteras and the Ferry. The Island makes for a great day trip.

We also went ot the aquarium last time we were there, it's small, but a nice day thing.

We love that you can drive your 4WD truck on the beach (no permit!), it makes it so much easier then lugging everything onto the beach, you just load it up in the car!

We are gonig to WDW this year instead of OBX (it was preplanned, then the husband of our friends, was diagnosed ot throat cancer, and while he is finished with his treatments, he is still under the weather), so tlakign about it makes me miss it as well as our friends.
