If you have HBO, this sounds like a great movie, beginning to air tonight on HBO.
Biography of Temple Grandin

I have read Temple Grandin's fascinating books and am looking forward to watching it. She is a woman with autism who has used her different view of the world to do some unlikely sounding things. She has been involved in humane treatment of animals for many years and has designed most of the animal handling facilities in the US.

Thanks, Sue. We got HBO this month just to watch this movie and it was so moving we still haven't been able to see the whole thing.

I knew we were in trouble when hubby came into the kitchen crying only three minutes into the movie. We got about 15 minutes in and had to turn it off for a while to process. It just made me cry to realize in such a visual way how my children are affected by their Autism. Luckily we are able to DVR it so we can watch at our leisure.

I also DVR'd it and am looking forward to a quiet moment when I can watch it.

Love her books.

Ditto on the crying. The scene at the end had me bawling. I went through a lot of this with DD, though she is Aspergers rather than autistic.

Anyway very well done movie. I see a lot of awards for Claire Daines coming up.

Great film, definately recommend it! I totally agree about the visual imagery in the film depicting her perception. I've read about it but seeing it was different. It really hit me what it may be like for my son.

Yes, I thought that was especially effective.

It was great movie, very well done.

I had just gotten through with Temples Book "The Unwritten Rules of Social Relationships: Decoding Social Mysteries Through the Unique Perspectives of Autism " and highly recommend it too.
