Do any of you have any skinny little petite boys? I am having the hardest time finding pants. He is 3, 36 inches, and on the skinny side. His waist is a 2T, which is fine in shorts, but the pants (both athletic and jeans) are high-waters. The 3Ts swallow him. Even if I pull the adjustable tabs all the way, they are still way too big in the waste, and fairly long in the length. I tried 3T short and 2T tall, neither work out quite right. The best I can find are the Grranimals track pants, the 3Ts work ok in those, but he still has to hitch them up when he runs. Is there any hope for my child this winter?:lmao:

When my DS was a little guy the pants at sears were the slimmest. They were the only ones that would stay up and not look completely baggy. I cried when he out grew the little boy pants there.

Also look for "skinny" jeans in a slim. the combination of the skinny style and the slim will make them look like regular jeans. This is what I do. My DD said he (my DS) would look so cute in skinny jeans I should buy him some, I told her those are skinny jeans! She was :rotfl2: because they just looked like normal jeans.

He is 5'4 ish now at 14 and still only weighs in the low to mid 80's so he was skinny then to.

I have a 6 year old skinny boy (46 inches tall and 40 pounds) and Carter's brand has been my saving grace! Their track pants seem to run on the skinny side. They fit him better then anything else. Good luck!

Gap slim jeans. They were the only jeans that fit my ds#2. Gap is a bit pricey but the quality is very good.

I'm right there you with. My little guy just turned 3, and is 36 1/2 inches tall. My choices are Carter's 2T that seem to run long, or any 3T with the waistband cinched all the way (look at the gathers on the side - yikes!) and he must wear his sneakers all the time (or the pants drag on the ground). I've been known to send him to preschool with some "short" pants riding a little low in the waist - hey, that's how all the cool boys wear them, right? ;)

Try getting them boy 4's with the adjustable waistbands versus the toddler sizes.
The toddlers sizes are cut fuller to allow for diaper room.

You will probably find that boy 4's are the same if not smaller in waist and butt as the toddler 3.

They would be super long, though, wouldn't they? That's our problem!

My DS used to be the same way. Starting with size 4 I could get slim size jeans. Try Levi. I used to find them occasionally at the Levi outlet stores. Wrangler jeans are cut a bit slimmer as well. I have also ordered from Denim Express at times.

To be honest, I would usually only get 1 or 2 pairs of jeans. Mostly he wore sweat pants or teack pants with safety pins in the waistband to keep them tight enough to stay up

Oh yeah, another trick I learned from my mom, cheaper pants are often cut smaller. I bought most of his sweats/track pants at Dollar General when I could get them that way he didn't have to have the safety pins to hold the pants up.

These are all good ideas, and I can try the 4s, I could always get the length altered. Can't make pants longer, can make them shorter. I will also try Sears.

I feel your pain. I need to live in an area where DS can wear shorts all season.

In athletic pants, I look for the ones with the real string, not the fake on that does nothing to keep the pants up. That is the first thing I do is pull the string and if it is real, then check out the length. I probably look strange walking around the boys department and getting mad because the strings are fake lol.

Levi's I know makes adjustable waist in at least a 4. Look for a 4slim. I got DS some at kohls on clearance when he was that size. I also have had luck with old navy, the sanoma kohls brand, which stops at 7x.

Funny someone mentioned Carter's. I always found all their clothes were made wide. Thier onzies were over an inch wider than old navy.

DS wears a 10 slim now, with each side of the elastic in at least 6 holes. I think he could wear a 4 around the waist. His pants get too small because they are too short in the crotch or length.

I wanted adjustable waist in infants or at least slims lol.

I have been reading abouth the older skinny boys, so I will know where to shop in a few years.

When my skinny, lanky DS was that age, JC Penney's Arizona jeans and Okie Dokie track pants were the best.

Carter's pants are a perfect fit for my little guy, who is tall but slim. I also just discovered these Old Navy pants that roll up. I bought them in 24 months since that's what he wears in their shorts, which fit him well.

Good luck!

These are the only jeans that have ever fit my skinny DS. He's 15 now and that's still all he can wear that won't fall off of him.

I'm looking into dapper snappers. I exchanged jeans at Gymboree-3t for 3. Length was the same, but the 3s adjusted better in the waist.

I have found "skinny" jeans from Old Navy or Gap fit my slim son the best. Even regular slim sizes are too big usually.

Just to clarify, I don't recommend Carter's for being on size - I agree that they run large, so ironically my 3 year old fits well in his 2T pants. They are almost a whole size too large, which works too! :)

I had to laugh when I saw this thread, DS1 (7yo) put on his brother's size 3 pants this morning...and they fit him around the waist :lmao: Needless to say I have a very tall and skinny boy!
We live in Adidas pants around here, the waist bands are slim and pants are long. Plus little boys can easily pull them up and down for the bathroom. Gap and Old Navy pants work too, try getting a size up in the girls section as their clothes are cut slimmer. This only works if there's no pink embrodery on the jeans  Otherwise we shop at Gymboree for their slim line, as well as The Gap.

The only hope I had when my DS was that age was the Myself Belt. You can google it, they have a website.

My DS potty trained crazy early and all the sizes of clothes were made for diapers! Even at age 5 his shorts were 18M - 2T this summer.

The myself belt is awesome, fits on any pants with belt loops and they don't need help with unhooking or rehooking it.

This made me laugh - One morning I had been out when my older DS who was I think 9 at the time got dressed, I walk in and he's wearing his younger brothers 3T or 4T jeans. I asked why in the world are you wearing Aiden's jeans - he says "Oh, I thought they were shorts." and they fit him like shorts! DH has a hard time telling the boys' clothes apart (they are 4.5 years apart in age) so he put them in older DS's drawer :confused3.

We still have a very hard time with pants for him, and have to buy slims with the adjustable waist. If anyone has any tips for putting weight on a 10 year old please let me know. I've got him on whole milk, and feed him fettucine alfredo at least one or twice a week and still he's rail thin. His weight hovers in the mid 50's.
