This is needed for a preschool story hour.

We have to read a book and do a craft that relates to the book. Can only use scissors, glue stick, crayons, markers, nothing messy like paint or glitter or takes long to dry.

Any suggestions??? this is for 4 and 5 year olds

Read Elmer & then they can make their own patchwork elephant.

Let me think & I'll try & post some more.

Read Swimmy, and then let them glue or color little fish and make them red except for one black one for the eye.

Read "Corduroy" and make a paper bag teddy puppet

When I taught 1st grade, we had teddy bear picnic day. The kids brought their teddies and we graphed teddy characteristics (how many wore a hat, colors or bears, etc.). You can serve teddy grahams as a snack and do the "teddy bear, teddy bear" song with the kids and their bears. You could incorporate some of these ideas too.

I did this for DD's kindergarten class...we read Rainbow fish. I drew a fish and photocopied it for all the kids. They decorated it with piecies of tissue paper glued on. I also got some metallic paper so that they could each use some of that too. Have fun!
