Last year we celebrated my sisters 50th at WCC and I ordered this fantastic cake that basically went to waste after our dinner. It was awesome but with desserts on the meal plan it just went to waste.

This year I am turning 40. I chose to have dinner at Narcoosee's. My DH just said to me "I want you to pick out your cake because I will mess it up". So I got to thinking. I really dont want a cake. I want the cherry cheesecake dessert that they have on the menu. Would it be weird if I ordered the Mickey with the chocolate covered strawberries instead of an actual cake. Can they put a candle in there for me to blow out for the sake of blowing out a birthday candle. I could order enough strawberries so that everyone got one.

I know way to much thought but I would really love the Mickey and have no desire to have an actual cake. Or should I fork over the money for a cake I dont want. I would have to get a big one there are 14 of us going.

Thoughts or opinions welcome. Thanks.

I took dd to WDW for her 7th bday this past summer and I ordered her two special desserts during our trip.

At 1900 Park Fare (dinner) we had the mini castle cake. It was perfect. Three of us (dd, me and grandmom) each had a small piece and then ate some yummy desserts from the buffet. We still had 1/2 the cake and the castle left over!

During breakfast at Cinderella's Royal Table, I ordered the slipper dessert for dd. She basically had that for breakfast.. and LOVED it! Amazingly, she didn't get any chocolate on her Cindy dress either!

I'm with you...I prefer the yummy desserts I can get at the restaurants over a birthday cake. I don't see any problem ordering something different!

When we have dinner for my birthday every year at the Napa Rose at DL, they just fancy up my dessert. We've never even thought to order a special cake.

I imagine it works the same way at WDW - when we went in September, my birthday was always around or during the Disneyana Convention banquet, so we never did special celebrations there...

Just let them know that it's your birthday and they'll do the rest with whatever dessert you order.

I say have a mini cake the small one that'll feed like two.

then you can have your cake and eat it too :goodvibes

and what is a birthday without a little something sweet!;)

Here are what we got during our week of birthdays last Christmas throught New years.

It did not taste very good but was cute. The castle on the top was hollow and had been around for a while. (1900 Park Fare)

This one came from 1900 Park Fare too. I am not a fan of white chocolate but it tasted better than most Disney desserts.

This was the best tasting one and it came from Cinderella's Royal Table on Christmas Day.

They were each just enought after the meal for the three of us to share. We did get a cake at Norway but after keeping it in the frig at VWL we ended up giving it to Stan and the front desk staff.

Ok I am sold. I just found out they did away with the strawberries. Boo.... But that castle cake looks very cool. I am gonna get that and the slippers for the kiddos. Now I just have to wait wait wait. At least we are nearing the 1 month mark. :goodvibes

Can you order anything from Park Fare that is a "boyish" we are taking my nephew for his birthday trip and I was thinking of getting him a cake for our Park Fare dinner. I wouldn't want the castle or the slipper though. Also there will only be 5 of us, do they give you a choice of cake size?

I just found the cake thread on the Restaurants board (it is in a sticky thread at the top) you can bascially order anything you want it seems. But your gonna pay for it.
