OT-best camcorder for me?

[Get me to Disney!]

I am stuck in the age of the Sony 8MM camera (which I happen to love) but it is not performing up to par any longer. I think it will be time to upgrade prior to my Disney trip in September. I just don't know what to get. I like the DVD idea but can't you only fit a small amount on the disks? I am scouring the Internet for answers too but any help would be appreciated. I like to film and fill my tape and then I transfer them to a big vhs but that is getting outdated........

I use a sony HDR-SR5....hard disk makes it easy to make home movies, also lightweight and portable..

Hubby just bought me a Sony Handycam for Christmas. It uses the Mini DV's. What I dont like is the discs only hold a half hour! they also have hour long ones but it still doesnt seem to be enough. I wish he had gotten me one with a hard drive. I was looking at the JVC everio and like that one alot!

I do like the new one however. Its a lot lighter than my old camcorder(vhs-c) and i think it will be easier to use when we take it to Disney in Septmeber. Carrying it around will be a lot nicer on my back since with the old one, weighed my back pack down and gave me one heck of a backache!

this price was $100 cheaper than wal-mart, and free shipping.
it's not here yet ( set to arrive 1/8/09 or so)
we researched camcorders to death ( not kidding, 3 months of looking)
i will let you know how it works this coming up weekend, DD's first basketball game is going to our first time using it! (11/10/09) as long as it makes it here before then LOL

this is our first ever camcorder, so we did not need anything to fancy, yet wanted something that was not hard to use.

ETA: we just bought this on Thursday 1/1/09 online, but now i see it's out of stock..... it is available at most targets and walmarts, if you want to see it in "person"

We just bought the Sony Handycam that is a hybrid were you can record to a memory card or mini dvd. We love it and can't wait to use it on our trip in April.
