Okay, so I guess I am not a "new" mom anymore, as DS is 6 months;) , but how do you new moms keep up workouts? I work 4 ten hour days a week and I am FRIED on my workdays after work and hanging with and getting DS ready. I hit the gym on my 3 days off, but I need some great 30-45 minute at home ideas for the winter that I can do dreadfully early in the morning:headache: . Anything I can do with the little man would be better, too!

I am really struggling with my halt of weight loss. I was a gym rat, to say the least, before DS, so this has been a mental and physical struggle for me. I am not one of those lucky ladies who can do little or nothing to lose weight without some consistent hard core exercise.

Any ideas???

I have 2 little ones. My little one is 8 months, big one is about to turn 3. I do workouts from beachbody.com. I love Turbo Jam the best because it is cardio kickboxing combined with dance but it is easy to follow. Workouts vary in minutes...20 minutes, 30 minutes, 45 minutes, 40 minutes. I love it!

Slim Series Express is great too...30 minute workouts. I am a lifetime member of Weight Watchers too. It took me 5 months to lose 43 pounds of baby weight I gained in my second pregnancy (6 months to lose 45 from my first pregnancy). I started working out again after my 6-week checkup. They work fast and my older son dances around with me. I have been doing the workouts with him since he was a baby and now my little one laughs when i do them. Better than a cartoon I say, any day! Good luck!

I have a DVR and I tape early morning exercise shows. Then anytime I can get an extra 20 mins (usually while DH is feeding baby or when he is settled for the night) I work out with them and fast forward through the commercials. It's only about 20 mins but every bit helps.
It's only Jan and I'm already feeling the winter blues. The next 3 months will be very long and I'm sure I'll be mall walking a lot!

How about The Firm? Pre-baby when I had 45 min to spare, it was a really effective workout.

Another Weight Watchers advocate here, too. Without WW, I never would have lost the baby weight... I was 205 when I delivered, then got stuck at 185 til dd was about 9 mo. At that point, someone actually asked me if I was pregnant again :scared1: so I joined WW... now I am 135, and I would never have done it without WW!

Now I am just maintaining, and I have a treadmill at home, and I run for 30 min 3-5 times a week after dd is in bed (she goes to bed at 7:30). It's not ideal, but since I also work outside the home, it's my only option.

I have enjoyed the "on demand" feature of our cable company. you can pick from a wide variety of workouts and do it when YOU can! I like leslie sansone and her walking workouts...it is mindless! I am much older than you probably and that is about all Ican do!

I gained 50 pounds with my pregnancy, and weight watchers helped to lose it. I actually ended up 10 pounds lighter than when I got pregnant. The nursing plan was great because it was so much food. I never went to the meetings, just followed the workout. I also tried to walk at least 3-4 times per week. Not very regimented but at least it was activity. Now I am pregnant again and am trying to battle my way through all the nausea!

This is a splurge, but my saving grace is my treadmill. We got one after number 2. When the babies sleep, I run. I've always figured when they are old enough to stop napping, they are old enough to know to stay away from the treadmill when it is going. Of course, I now get to run to Backyardigans or High School Musical (which I actually like!).

Hi,

I workout at home a lot and I go to the gym when I can. I have 5 kids, home based businesses, I take 2 classes, and a busy life in general. I do home workouts with DVDs, treadmill, elliptical, stationary bike, dumbbells, and weight machines.

My two favorite sites are http://firmbelivers.yuku.com (you have to apply to become a member) and www.videofitness.com .

GL!

I have to second the Turbo Jam series....I fit in 4-5 workouts per week (6 if I'm lucky) and it's helped me shed all my baby weight (from 2 kiddoes!!!!). I also love the variety in workout length- there are a couple of 20-30 minute workouts and the longest is about 50 minutes. When I have a little more time, I add in the Slim in 6 Series Burn it Up (o-u-c-h!) or I use their Slim & 6 pack abs workout- 11 minutes, but very good. 10 Hour days makes it really hard to motivate for anything- I'd call those my off days from exercise and make the most of the rest of the week!

If your family has a gaming console(we've had one since our first Christmas together), look into Dance Dance Revolution. For PS2 especially you could probably pick up the disc and dance mat combo cheap. Its certainly given me some variety and time away from the old stationary bike.

I just ordered the Turbo Jam package off TV....I am not a fan of infomercials, but I saw this and remembered the suggestion! I was able to try the Turbo Jam abs on On Demand TV, and I liked it. DH went ahead and bought an elliptical (sooooo not in the budget right now:scared1: ), but an investment in your life and health.....blah, blah, blah.....(just kidding!) So hopefully, between the fun of the Turbo Jam and the mindless activity of the elliptical, I should be able to fit my mood that early in the AM.:lmao:

Thanks to all for your suggestions. I also ordered nutrisystem months back and am finally using it now that I have stopped nursing, although I am not the biggest fan due to the cost. I figure after this months food, I may try weight watchers or body for life to try to get the baby fat to go away!
