We have four DS's -- ages 4 to 13 -- that we love to death. They are ALWAYS loud but the only time their noise really bothers me is if I'm hungry or if they're really, really bickering with each other (which of course only happens about two hundred times per day).
What always amazes me is how loud the the TV's are when they are turned on for the first time of the day -- well, of course, they're loud because they were turned up and turned up and turned up the day before so they could be heard over all the noise the kids were generating.
Still, I wouldn't trade this beautiful noise in for anything. It always seems so wierdly quiet to me when I come home from work to get something during the schoolday and the house is silent because the kids are all away.

I am glad that I got the gift, or I would be insane by now.

My DD3 (also adopted but from China) has 3 settings: Whisper soft, Loud and LOUDER. And when she screams, grown men shake (ok, so it's just her father) and dogs hide (except for the Siberian Husky who joins her in a lovely howl). As a friend of mine said about her scream - "it's definately soprano". I'm hoping that it gets better, but I'm not placing any bets on whether it will be anytime soon.
