We have hundreds of DVDs. And they used to be great for trips and traveling. The kids would watch them all them time. However, lately the only things things that go on roadtrips with us are DSi and iPod Touches. I love the concept of the Touch. They have games, video, and music all in one.

So, I've decided my summer project is to convert some of our DVDs into digital copies to we can put them on our ipods. Mike has given me a couple programs, but when I converted it and tried to upload it to itunes, it shut the program down.

From doing some research online, I found a program called cucusoft video converter. I've downloaded a trial version, and it's great. I pop a DVD in, choose my settings and convert it. It converts to an MPG4 file.

So, two questions. Has anyone ever used this software - thoughts? And two, has anyone ever used the following website to buy software? I can get the program 50% off. www.moneyoffsoftware.com

Thanks for your help.

I use the CuCusoft DVD to iPod converter. Works great! My dh bought me a 120g classic and I have about 20 movies on it and still going. The transfer is easy to iTunes and have not had a problem with it on the PC, as my PC is pretty old and slow and while the dvd reader might take longer than a newer model it still works well with the software.

Thanks. I think it took about 45 minutes on the trial I ran yesterday. If that long. I'm just probably more concerned with buying it discounted. I hate buying online from places I've never heard of.

I bought it straight from CuCusoft. Sometimes they run discounts. I have never tried the website you are looking in to.

Be sure to do a trial first, especially if you have use windows 7.

I purchased it and used it on my pc with windows Xp. Slow conversion but worked fine. Then a month later my pc crashed and I purchased a PC with windows 7. I had purchased the download backup for an extra price since I knew I know the old pc was on its last leg. Unfortunately the software does not work with my new pc. I am pretty bummed that I paid over 50 bucks for one or two months use.

If that doesn't work out, you can get get free burning software from DVDvideosoft that will convert anything to anything else.

Tried that, because free is great. It says that the DVD is protected from copying.

Just checking - did you use the decrypter first?
Some DVDs are hard to decrypt. I use DVDshrink (free) mostly but it hasn't had any updates for a long time. With DVDshrink, the decryption and copying functions are one continuous process and really easy.
Disney DVDs are hard to decrypt to copy. Sometimes giving up is the easiest way out.

It was a Disney movie. I think I might just try this software. It's not free, but it did the movie OK. I am currently trying the free trial. It had no problem with Lady and the Tramp

I us pqdvd. I have used since the days of my ipaq. The quality is good, I keep watching for an iPad update.

Which cucusoft product are you using? I download the program last summer (love it!), but when my computer crashed last Thanksgiving, I decided to upgrade to Windows 7. I was able to redownload the program, and it works fine, even with the new operating system.
