My husband took a bump on a flight a few months ago and got a free ticket good for roundtrip travel anywhere in the US. Now we are trying to use the ticket and running into quite a few roadblocks as far as extremely limited availability and poor customer service reps. I called 4 times last night and I am pretty sure I was talking to people in a call center in India, which is fine if the people there can speak and understand English well, but the 4 people I spoke with did not and were not very helpful at all.
Any tips?

You have just discovered why many savvy travellers will not agree to be bumped in exchange for a flight voucher. They can be impossible to use, due to all the restrictions.

I can tell you that when we call USAir, we get a US call center. Keep trying and just hang up and try again if you reach a customer service rep who is not helpful. Perhaps someone else has a number you could try?

Try going to the airport to book the flight, it may be a hassle to go there, but you'll ensure that it will be booked correctly.

I've dealt with the US Airways call center, it's actually in Guam, and let's just say that the reps there are not the sharpest pencil in the drawer. :)

I would suggest asking your question on www.flyertalk.com go to miles and points, then the US Airways forum. They are great and can get you some ideas or what you should do.
