Hi there,

Every now and then my family (dh and I, dd11 and dd7) like to do a weekend getaway at a kid- friendly (family friendly) hotel. We have done Stage- West in Mississauga several times and love that-and are booking the Americana in Niagara Falls over Christmas break (indoor water park)...my friends have headed to Chatham to the "Wheels Inn"- but just wondering if any of you know of any other fun places for a mini getaway with the kids. Thanks!!! :flower:

Was just looking up the Nottawasaga Inn in alliston. Same premise as the "Wheels Inn" Giant water slide indoor golf etc and for the grown ups there is golfing and they also have babysitting

Let you know more later cause i think we are go there this weekend cause I have to take my daughter to school in North Bay

You may also want to try the Wheels inn in Chatham Ontario it is great fun for the whole family. I am sure your friends will let you know all about it when they return. We have also stayed in the Holiday Inn across from Yordale mall in TO they have a Holidome there is also the Lamplighter Inn in London that has lots of cool stuff for the kiddies like a huge pool and waterslide etc.

Said I would tell you about the Nottawasaga Inn. It is an older hotel and rather dark but we had a good time! The pools are good 76º for the inside pool and the same for the outside pool. Outside pool is hardly used. The water slide is kind of slow and my 7 yr old didn't want to do the swimming test so he never did go on it , DH tried it out. LOL the pool at the end is about 5.5ft deep so that is why they had to do a swim test. The have one of those umbrella showers that the kids love. It is nicely themed as the jungle room. It says it is unsupervised but there was always a lifegaurd on duty. THe whirlpool was too warm for me but DH loved it. You had to be ten to go in it. There was also a dry sauna that you had to be 16 to use. The minigolf was ok. Jungle theme but I'm not sure if the animations weren't working but they were never on anyway. The arcade was ok. Sucked up lots of quarters. They did have 3 pool tables as well. The activities they had planned we didn't make it to the ones in the day time but we did go to the magician show who was good and the bonfire which was nice. The kids all got to roast marshmallows and drink hot chocolate (no charge) They had sports activities no charge and craft activities ($5 to cover the cost of the craft) which was not bad. It is a popular wedding venue but there was no noise at all which was nice considering there were three weddings there. The also have the starlight lounge which had some funky light show going (we could see it from the parking lot when we were coming back from the bonfire) and you didn't here that either. NICE!
They have 3 restaurants a casual, semi casual and a more gourmet restaurant. We ate twice at the casual one cause my guys are very plain eaters and would not have enjoyed the dinner in the "fancy" restaurants. The food was very good for buffet. 7 year old ate two plates (and he doesn't do that) $14.95 for adults. The breakfast buffet was standard fare for $9.95 My kids get their moneys worth in breakfast meat. W went one night into alliston which is kind of a sprawling burg. sprawls into Nicholston which sprawls into the resort. We picked up snacks at the Zehrs and popand kept ice in a small cooler. We also went to Pizza hut (not my fave but majority rules and got comped the pizza because they forgot to put it in the oven until we said we would like it boxed (too full from bread salad and wings) Then they gave us large pizzas cause they were out of mediums so we had pizza for breakfast. It is a golf resort which I did fail to mention to my DH (didn't I tell you that honey? :rolleyes1 sorry) but he forgave me anyway. My daughter got her hair cut which turned out very nicely and she really liked the hairdresser there and I got a manicure which was not bad, bugs me though cause they added in the gratuity. We were allowed to use the facilities before and after check in. The rooms were a good size. They don't have coffee makers but they do serve coffee in the lobby from 0630- 10 and timmys is in alliston. We had a deluxe room which was two queens and a pull out couch. They do have a Deal that if you are staying two nights you get the room, dinner and breakfast (for two adults) starting at $195. We didn't do that because we thought we were travelling to North Bay on the saturday then coming back but we changed our minds at the last minute. They have a 72hour cancelltion policy as well. If you follow their directions it is easy to find (we took the "short cut"). Anyway it was very nice, the staff are willing to help.
All in all I would go back.

We enjoyed the Lamplighter in London last w/e.
