I'm with those that say that while the Anchor Bar created them, other locations perfected them.
My favorite wings are Duff's. If you have a GPS, ask it to locate the intersection of Millersport and Sheridan Dr.
For other restaurants, my very favorite is Tempo. But it's expensive. REALLY expensive. But trust me when I say, so VERY worth it!!!
Some of my other favorites:
Byblo's - REALLY good Lebanese food
270 Campbell Blvd.
Amherst, NY
(Near University at Buffalo)
Al-E-Oops - DELICIOUS BBQ
5389 Genessee St.
Lancaster, NY
Friar's Table - prime rib
301 Cleveland Dr.
Cheektowaga, NY
They're having a special...I think it's an entree, appetizer, dessert and glass of wine for $20 per person. Through August 31.
Old Man River - hot dogs/hamburgers/fresh cut fries
375 Niagara St.
Tonawanda, NY
Roycroft Inn - nice restaurant, contemporary cuisine - reminds me a LOT of Artist Point. It's more expensive than most places, but it's not unreasonable. Really nice!
40 S. Grove St.
East Aurora, NY
Zebb's - burgers and fresh cut fries - MUCH better than Old Man River - not that either one is bad, but given the choice, I'd prefer this one. This is a chain, but it's a local one. Locations are in the Buffalo, Rochester and Syracuse areas.
2875 Niagara Falls Blvd.
Amherst, NY
Solé - delicious Caribbean inspired cuisine
5110 Main St.
Williamsville, NY
(in the Walker Center)

It's a REALLY comprehensive list of Buffalo-area restaurants with reviews for each. And while the guy that runs the site does write some of his own reviews, most are from site readers. It's kind of like TripAdvisor for Buffalo area restaurants.
Have a great trip! Hopefully, you'll bring good weather with you!
