I realize that this comes up on other Disney travel related discussion forums besides the DIS, and I'm not bashing a specific one, but I gotta say... I find it amazing what some people freak out about in preparation for their trips. I feel like posting back; chill out, it's only a trip to Disney, a slow bus or occasion rain won't RUIN your trip...

My favorite though, is when someone posts that they got a resort upgrade from Value or Mod. to Deluxe or DVC, someone else feels that they are entitled to the same upgrade, so they call Disney up and whine and complain enough until they get it... Amazing...

Just food for thought...

:thumbsup2Totally agree!

I think people get so caught up in planning the "perfect" trip and they do so much research and they read somewhere that someone's trip was "ruined" by weather or rude people or blah blah blah that they get it in their heads that if that happens to them, their trip will be forever ruined so they start to panic.

What? I'm not entitled to an upgrade because someone else got one? Seriously? After I paid all this money that I've been saving for 17.5 years? You've got to be kidding. :scared1: ;)

Glad I'm not alone!! :)

My favorites are the ones that obsess about the weather. Of course I want nice weather when I go to WDW, but there isn't one darn thing I can do about it if it rains every day. What is the point of making yourself crazy checking the 15 day forecast 5 times a day? Not to mention the fact that I have been several times when thunderstorms were predicted for almost every day and we only saw a quick shower or no rain at all. I rarely check the weather, I get a general idea of what the temps are like when I'm going and check the weather a day or two before just to see if anything major might be brewing. Other than that I bring an umbrella or whatever and just go with it.

I also agree that how crazy it is how people obsess about the weather and if it will "ruin" their trip. I for one like it when it rain, because some of my favorite memories are of me walking through a downpour in a poncho and seeing all the people stare at me from cover like I have 4 or 5 heads :goodvibes

Poncho smocho. My son's favourite memory from our last trip was the two of us going to MK in the pouring rain. We walked right down the middle of every street, all the way to Pirates of the Caribbean (which is what he wanted to ride). Everyone under cover started cheering us, as we were the only ones brave enough (or crazy enough) to defy the weather.

Even funnier was after the ride, the rain cleared, and we went to watch Jack Sparrow do his show across the lane way. My son got picked out by Jack, as he was all done up from the pirates league. Jack asked my son his name, and his response was priceless. "My name is Inigo Montoya, you killed my father, prepare to die." I don't think jack was suppose to laugh, but he lost it.

And that's the type of things that you should look for in a vacation (and in life); the unexpected joys. People who believe that they are entitled to something will always be disappointed.

I'm all for sing and dancin in the rain...but....

If thunder is heard or lightening seen....please take cover.

I know what the odds are. I know. I swear....I know, but every year someone is hit and killed by lightening in Florida. Sometimes, more than one.

I'm sure they felt safe playing the odds.

During the summer we can have literally hundreds of lightening strikes within a very short time.

That was my PSA for today.:thumbsup2

:thumbsup2 I *like* your son's sense of humor!!! :rotfl:

Oh trust me, the first sign of thunder and I would have been inside like everyone else. Even if you're not hit by lightening directly, standing ankle deep in a huge puddle isn't the smartest place to be.

I agree Kevin! I enjoy walking around without a poncho in the light afternoon showers, but wouldn't be caught dead in one of the "monsoons." NO ONE, and I mean NO ONE wants to see me soaking wet wearing all white, which is what I usually wear to the parks... With navy blue Crocs of course! ;)

My friend and I had very limited park time around PCC 2.0. We had planned on seeing MSEP and Wishes on the Saturday before the cruise. However MK was INSANE that night. I had never seen MSEP, so we were able to find a good spot in Frontier Land. When the parade was over, we looked at each other and said "We've seen Wishes. We will see Wishes again. Let's get the heck out of here." I later heard there were supposedly 80,000 people at MK that night. :scared1:

People should learn to manage their expectations.

Now if I could just manage my expectations on winning the lottery. :lmao:

I do understand how the over planning and obsessing can be anoying, but our last trip was in 07 and our next trip may be years away. It is so hard not to want a "perfect" trip. I know that is not possible and am able to go with the flow better than many, but things like the weather do bother me.

I totally understand obsessing about the perfect vacation, but I think it's smart to be reasonable. Not doing your research, and then complaining that Orlando is freaking cold in early March? Not good. Paying for a water view at the BWI and then being upset because you were downgraded by the Disney system to a standard view? Perfectly reasonalbe, IMHO.

We're currently planning our belated honeymoon trip for August. I booked GF RPC as a surprise to Patrick because he can't stop talking about the last time we were at GF, and how much he loves concierge, and the feeling of being taken care of on vacation.

We are doing a *lot* of planning for this trip, mostly because we've got 7 and a half months to think. When the CM on the phone who booked us yesterday offered to have my ADRs set up for me, I had to remind HER that we aren't 180 days out yet for another six weeks. That's how much I'm planning.

Am I going to freak out if it rains every afternoon? Probably not. We'll just sit in our room and watch the castle change colors, or something. :-) But my husband isn't a theme park lover yet, and would really like to spend a day boating on Seven Seas Lake. I would probably be upset if we can't do that. Not "ruined trip" upset, but it's not unreasonable to have expectations, especially with so many months of planning, reading the boards, listening to the podcasts, and saving and scrimping to afford such an awesome trip.
