I've been looking for a Palm PDA for about 3 months now. DH has been telling me to buy one, but I just never broke down and did it. Finally settled on the Palm Tungsten E and after major comparisons with RP and price, I finally decided to buy it from Dell. I decided to use CR and linked through their site.
Added it to my cart with an estimate ship date of 2/11. No problem. Decided to spring for the next day delivery. The 11th came and went and when I called to find out the status of it they told me they had no idea when it would ship because they don't stock them and they get them from the manufacturer. I nicely, but firmly pushed for a more definitive answer stating that if I knew it wouldn't have shipped on the 11th, I would have placed the order somewhere else. The Dell reps were nasty and seemed irritated that I was asking for a firm date. My point was that if they didn't have them in stock and if they weren't firm on a ship by date, they shouldn't have misrepresented that on their site. The CS rep got snippy with me and told me that they can't control when the manufacturer ships to them. I could have walked into my local Circuit City and had it by now. I don't want to cancel the order since Chris at CR already rewarded me with the points and I don't want to get into that hassle.
Any suggestions? Am I being unreasonable?
