On December 9, I ordered a camera online from the source as it was a really good price. However, it was backordered, but we decided to wait for it because of the price being so good. On Boxing day, that same camera was on sale at Best Buy for $10 less than ours, but again, we thought we still ended up getting a good deal, and just kept our order. It was a gift for me from my husband, and since I already knew about it, I was ok not having the actual camera for Christmas.

Well, it is now January 17. I have called multiple times about the status, and the Source keeps telling me that they have nothing new to tell me. That camera is now $80 more everywhere I look, minimal. Today, the Source tells me that if the wait is much longer, they will just go ahead and cancel our order. The thing that irritates me, is that they have that same camera IN STORE, but because I ordered it online, they cannot honour the price from online for their in store products. Its not like they don't have it, they just don't have it in their warehouse.

What should I do? I feel like calling them and telling them that because I have been extremely patient, they should give me an in store camera for the same price....I'm so angry about this, but I don't know how to approach. Has anyone else experienced this?

When you call it is important to stay cool and be polite. Never just accept what the first person you talk to tells you about it. You need to escalate things to the next level in terms of speaking with supervisors and just keep moving up until you have some resolution.

Also, be sure to document everything about who you spoke to, when you called etc.

What camera is it? I ask because the Canon Rebel T2i has been backordered from Canon since just before Christmas. If that is the camera they are not jerking you around, it really is backordered.

Thanks for the advice. It is a Canon, but not a rebel...we already have one and absolutely love it. I wanted something more handy and could fit in my pocket for my upcoming trip. The Rebel, albeit it takes the most fantastic photos, is bulky and not really functional for the tower of terror or the Hulk coaster.

I just talked again to the Source, and they JUST informed me that that camera is no longer being made...however, it isn't updated on their system yet. The guy I spoke to on the phone found that out from one of the stores here in Edmonton!!!

I don't even know what to do at this point. Apparently there are a couple of them left in the stores around our city. The guy at customer service told me they could do a product exchange with the store and that I could get a camera from the store instead of waiting for it from the warehouse. When I called the source closest to my home he said that wasn't possible as then the store would take a loss. Apparently, the warehouse and the stores operate separately. I was waiting for 2 people to call me back to tell me what was happening. My husband said that if we don't hear anything by tomorrow, he was going to cancel the order and inform the source about his feelings about their customer service (basically, its been ME trying to figure everything out...NO one has helped me!).
