OT: 3 hour layover in Atlanta what can we do?

We have a 3 hour layover in Atlanta on our way to North Carolina this July, would we have time to do anything? Or does anyone have a suggestion on a place to eat that is near the airport. Also, how easy is the MARTA to use?

Any tips are welcomed!

What time of day/day of week is your layover? I doubt 3 hours is enough to leave the airport. It could easily take 30+ minutes from landing to getting to the airport doors and then much of the time you need to be at security an hour before the next flight. MARTA is easy, but only runs every 15 minutes much of the week and there isn't anything interesting to see until you travel about 15 minutes on it.

That said, there are some decent things to see/do in the airport. Lots of restaurants and shops. Don't know the age of your kids, but much of the day the international concourse (E) is pretty deserted and you can take them there and let them run. There are also mini play areas in several of the concourses, though I can't remember off-hand which ones.

That's what I was afraid of. DD is 11 so she's pretty easy to entertain with her DS and laptop. I believe we'll be at concourse C we're flying ATA. Thanks for you help.

Yeah, don't leave the airport. You're on the marta for at least a half an hour before you get to anything touristy, and even then those places are a good walk from the 5 points marta station. Which is terrifying and not very safe, IMO.

Atlanta has lots and lots of great places to visit, just not for an out of towner on a marta-it takes a bit of digging and a car (again, IMO) to find the best parts.

With only 3 hours, I would not leave the concourse. The wait in security is unpredictable and can be quite long.
