Oscars question... why are they playing music during the speech?

It's bugging the heck out of me too. DUMB move on the producers part!

I agree, totally annoying. Everyone is so conditioned to the music meaning they should end their speech (including us) they must be feeling totally rushed the whole time.

Not only is it distracting, but it's like cheesy, soundtrack music. You'd think they'd come up with something better for the Oscars. :rolleyes:

Dolly was too skinny.

Did Charleze get botox too? Her forehead looked funny to me. At first I thought it was because her hair was piled so high, but when she presented, I thought, no, it's definitely the forehead. :sad2:

I thought it was funny when Jon Stewart said they were out of film clips. I've never seen so many looks back at past years' stuff. Whoever said the presenters' shtick stinks, is right. They should just present and let the host make the jokes.

::yes::

The Tom Hanks skit about long speeches and being "attacked" by the musicians was funny, and should have been enough to get the point across.

I also thought the marquee thing was cheesy. They would flash the presenters name up in lights....very distracting and that big overheard thing took away from the stage. They announced their names, did we really need to see the name in lights???

They are playing it from the beginning of their speech. It's really, really annoying. It's not the "let's wrap up" music... it's from the moment they are given the statue.
It really annoyed me too.
I think they did it because last year they had quite a few who said "Wait, stop the music". This way, they can gradually increase the volume of the music until the person is drowned out and there is nothing to start.
I thought it was rude and disrespectful to the winners.
