I loved Little Miss Sunshine, but Best Picture is tough this year. There are so many scenarios that could play out there.

I agree. I wouldn't be unhappy if Little Miss Sunshine won, but I'm not sure if it'll win Best Picture. They might give it to The Departed, as a retroactive award for Scorcese.

I like DISUnc's theory, though! I was kinda wondering if it is sort of responding to the general understanding that many of the past couple of year's best acting performances have been comedic--and overlooked. (I'm thinking of Johnny Depp in particular.)
