After getting a look at the Osbourne lights going up the first week of November, I noticed that unlike previous years, there is not just one entrance way into the area since it was moved. You can get in from the area after exiting the tram ride, from the opening under the movie marquee in front of Honey, I Shrunk The Kids playground, from The Muppet vision and Star tours exits and from the road in front of the Sci Fi Drive in. Does anyone have any news about where the entrance will be? Will they close off all the routes and have one opening somewhere?

We previewed the lights tonight! :bounce:
Fabulous, of course.
Yes, all those exits. I think it is made to start at the front of the streets, near the coffee/bookshop end.
Mostly because there are words in lights facing that direction.
But we entered through the playground area. The bathrooms were even open at the not yet opened car show.
We really enjoyed standing back there and looking down at the city streets.
Beautiful job. There is not as much detailing in some ways -- like numerous lawnmowers, etc lit up. But details in others.
We especially thought it was funny seeing a working TV in one of the rooms facing the side street.

Here are some pictures that I took tonight of the Osborne Lights.

I like the layout this year better than in years past. The street is divided. You walk down the street and turn left and then left again to see the lights. There is a lot more room to walk in.

It was snowing on the street and there was different Christmas music playing along the street.

Keep in mind these pictures were taken without a tripod. I will be going back to improve my skills in the dark.

Yes you can get in by the playground entrance. But the beginning of the line starts by the bookstore/Sci Fi dinner.

I went to the sneak preview tonight. From what the cast members shared tonight is that on official opening there will be one way in and one way out. entering up near sci fi, walking down streets of america, circling around and back up streets of america and out near front of muppets.

they do have street in half so ppl are going one direction.

tonight they had cast members standing around blocking certain paths, and stirring ppl in one direction towards the lights.

but as usual who knows for sure what will or won't be during official times. seems these few nights of previews is also for working out bugs on moving ppl thru.

it was beautiful though, and of course i had to buy a gingerbread cookie to nibble as i went around.

When will the official opening be? We're looking to go on the 1st or 2nd December.

I think the official opening is around Thanksgiving. It should be open when you visit MGM.

The official opening is November 24th

I heard the special effect (3D) glasses will no longer be handed out. (Luckily I have mine from years past.)
Anyone else hear this too?

We were not given glasses Saturday evening. I thought that was maybe due to the food and drinks being served. But that may not have been an issue at all if they are no longer providing 3D glasses.

Hey, you know what? Those pictures were pretty darn good for no tripod. Great job!

Is it true that there are about 1/2 as many lights as last year? A CM told me this about a month ago.

Hard to say. We did not think the area covered was hardly even half as large as the use to have. I say I like this better though.
The other was good. This is more condensed.
To me in some ways it was more detailed before only that there was so much to see.
Now the detailing is just done different. It mostly is the buildings, etc.
The other was a suburbia scene. This is a street scene.

I was wondering about one of the first buildings. By the light theming we could tell it is intended to represent the villains. But no villains theming in the store front window display.

It will be interesting to see if they added to anything from Saturday night.

Thanks for the photo previews safetymom. I've seen a few on other sites and even a couple fo videos but yours are by far the brightest and most detailed so far.
