I am new to holidays at Disney and need someone to explain how the Osbourne Lights show works. Does it run at a certain time in the evening or every hour on the hour kind of thing? Planning on going to HS on Dec 10th and working on a hopper schedule that day with Epcot....need to know what time me and DS17 can catch the Osbourne Light show. Any info would help....TIA!

Here is a link from AllEars at http://allears.net/tp/h_osb.htm . It runs from sundown to about an hour after closing unless a special event is scheduled like on December 8th. But about every 15 minutes the lights start to dance to the music.

From AllEars: the spectacle was enhanced to include choreographed "dancing" lights that swirl and soar to an exhilarating medley of holiday music every 15 minutes, thanks to electronic wizardry featuring more than 400 dimmers. Every building facade, all the trees, wreaths, bells and holiday figures dance to classic tunes among "Florida snow" flurries. Also bringing the Disney's Hollywood Studios backlot to life are three-dimensional and motion-based displays – some originally created at the Osborne home in Arkansas by businessman Jennings Osborne as a holiday display for the delight of his daughter.

pmOn Saturday, December 10, 2011, DHS is open until 8pm unless it changes as time gets closer to the date. You never know being a Saturday night, maybe WDW might decide to extend the hours. That means that you could see the Osborne Spectacle of Dancing Lights up to about 9pm if DHS closes at 8pm.

I see Fantasmic is scheduled one time for 630pm that night. Most people say that if you go to Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights during the Fantasmic show it should be less crowded because most people will be at the show and try to go to the opening at sundown or after Fantasmic show.

I tend to like to watch the Fantasmic show and take my time exiting the show and go down to the street and people watch, listen to the disney christmas music and look at the decorations.

I do not want to be in that whole Fantasmic crowd at they all go from the Fantasmic Theatre to the Osborne area.

But that is just me.

I am sure there are plenty of others here that might have better ideas and experiences to share to help you decide what to do.

It is amazing.

One small note since it sounds like you're hopping from Epcot to HS....

If you plan to see them AFTER park closure, you still have to be IN the park BEFORE 8:00. Although the lights are on, I don't think they'll let you in the park after official close.

The tentative plan is to do EMH at HS then over to Epcot around lunch time then head back to HS around dinner time to see the lights so we will be back in the park before it closes. We have no plans of seeing Fantasmic this time around. It's just me and DS17 for a quick trip, mainly college visit.... with a little Disney Christmas in the mix. We just had a family vaca at AKL end of Aug and did the Fantasmic thing. Sounds like a great idea to see the lights during F!. I told DH back in Aug...I don't care if I ever see it again. I know i'm getting off topic but we did the dinner package thing and it seemed like we were herded just as much as the general public that was attending....it was awful. Anyway...sorry for the rant and thanks again for the info.
